hi,
i smoke mackerel by first salting the fillets down in dry salt, then soaking overnight with a change of water to remove the excess salt, usually with sucess. the last load i smoked i froze on an open tray, as usual. i went to bag them up & found several had exploded from the inside, is this salt crystalisation or aliens ?
can salt crystalise at sub zero temperatures ? should i eat these fish or take off & nuke the whole site from orbit, i'm told this is the only way to be sure

it regularly gets used these days, better than some f### or c### words i spose.
if i have just banged me thumb & children are present, i use the word bloomin instead.
my kids delight in the proper use of the word ( when something is actually covered in blood ) to see if they can get away with it.
as george washington once said "for the times they are a changing"

do they take hard back crabs ?
-
also rabid vegans are nice with a dill sauce
-
thanks spasor,
i see your point, i did explain to the greens that no anglers hunt fish to exhaustion & then rip them apart with packs of dogs but this may be falling apon blind eyes, tell me more of peta, i have come across this name before
-
i liked the finger tortoise, i think it involved an egg box, but that is streching the memory back to about 1972 or something
-

somewhere on one of these threads i found a link to a site that lead me to believe the green party were trying to ban fishing in the uk.
after a very long e-mail to the party trying to put them right i received a reply saying
Hi, we have no intention of banning fishing.
????????????
have i been mislead?

i like pouting, but try not to do it in public
-
that'll be anglespeak for a smoothound, first time i saw it i thought someone couldnt spell sprat, but then i realised sprats dont grow to 7lb & give a good fight
-
havn't had any poor cod recently either jim, had a nice doggie though

bucket might work off a boat, might give em a chance to swim down before the gulls grab em. weymouth angling centre do a small battery powered airator for buckets, saw a pier angler using one last week. i will get one soon as ive paid me tax bill !
-
i've never managed to put one back off a boat either, they just dont come up very well. on the beach we let them recover in a bucket of water for about 10 mins, if thrown straight back in they just get washed up dead
-
i have not caught a pouting for months, where have they all gone ?!! ( i fish lyme bay )
-
can u feather with swans or will the queen get upset ?
-
try thait dissolving stuff that course fishermen use, u never know they could b right !
-
West bay is a bit difficult to fish due to the habour improvement works(have a look at the west bay sea angling website) many good marks eastwards along the chsil, cogden beach is less crowded than bexingto, abbotsbury is good. westwards there is eype (bit snaggy, bull huss at east end) & seatown, only prob there is the car park closing at 8pm at the moment, usually good fishing in july
-
hang on in there, u feel better in the morning, just think of an extra £4.50 a day u can spend on tackle
