  1. Hi chaps I'm after a pole and iv seen a browning first premium 925 on the bay for about £40 and was wonder what your opinions where on this.

    I know absolutely nothing about poles but I was after something for corse small fish and maybe small carp.

    I'm only going by brand name as I do a but of claying it's what I'm used to.

    So if you think this would be suitable or know something else around that price or a bit more many please let me know :)

    Thanks in advance chaps :)

  2. I use this landing net and handle.

    I agree with Rusty and would start her off with a cheap whip to catch lots. A slightly longer whip can be elasticated if you expect bigger fish.

    Something like this

    thanks for the links mate, obviously my posts are some what delayed due to being under probation :)

    I don't mind investing a little more in a decent sized pole then i can use it on my own of help her go a bit further a field

    the net and handle are perfect, I will have a good look at them now

    thanks again, Dave

  3. Hello David, I’m not a parent but these are my thoughts;

    • You can’t both fish when teaching youngsters, you’ll spend all of your time helping your daughter so plan it as her day out and not yours.
    • Make sure you pick a venue where she’s bound to catch lots of tiddlers.
    • Make fishing as simple as possible to begin with. Buy a cheap whip, maybe you could adapt your broken pole?
    • Go a few times to see if the initial enthusiasm wanes.

    If your daughter’s still up for it then your existing kit will be perfectly usable. I’d just change the line, buy new hooks and cower at the prospect of teaching a youngster to cast with a fixed spool reel.

    As regards the landing net handle a good (but pricey) one is this;

    The net size really depends on what you’re expecting to catch but I’d say a 50cm round net would be ok for starters.

    I totally agree, My thoughts were to use my existing pole as a whip for her and full size for me...

    As i found out it had been reversed over by a ford fiesta and now shows a lovely crack right down the middle of every section.

    so my thought was to try get hold of a simple but decent quality pole and like you said use the end as a whip, we would only be using one "rod" as she is too young anyway.

    as far as catching small fish is concerned there are a few pegs at my local fishing spot dedicated to newbies and kids on the canal where small perch,roach and tench are usually a plenty ;)

    thanks for the heads up on the net, I need all the help i can get.

    Many thanks, Dave :)

  4. hello chaps new to the forum, i'm hopefully getting back into fishing and have posted a question in course fishing section.

  5. Hello everyone, My name is David, I'm new to the site and would like to ask for some advice :)

    I took my daughter for a walk around the my old fishing spot at the weekend and i was surprised by her enthusiasm about wanting to give it a go.

    i'm not new to fishing but stopped around 6 or 7 years ago so some of my tackle is a bit outdated i was hoping you guys could give me some advice.

    I do fish with a rod and line but also used a pole ( leeda zoo creature ) which unfortunately has been damaged beyond repair would anyone be able to recommend a decent sized pole similar to this one ? I think i payed around £100 and its been a cracking pole.

    also i'm after an extendable landing net handle and net.

    I'm a bit out of the loop on where to shop for these items, so if anyone could offer any advice on that i would be truly grateful.

    thanks again, David
