  1. Hi all.

With Christmas approaching, and hopefully all getting into the Christmas spirit.

How about having a best dressed Kayak and rider competition.

No limits to what you can decorate your Kayak with.

The only stipulation is......all photos must be taken with the Kayak and rider on the water, not in the back garden on the grass :)

Any sponsors / dealers looking in......if youd like to donate a small prize it would add to the fun.

    Anyone interested?

Start posting entries from the 17th December.

    Bill. :)

  2. Use a heat gun and a plastic welding rod (which you can get from Ocean Kayak or perhaps from your dealer) - better still use a hatch or flush mount holder cut out from your kayak if you have one. This will give the best colour match. For this reason I always keep cut outs no matter how small they are.

Thanks for that Speciman. I'm going to get a bad scratch or a hole one day, its best to be ready.

  3. It's nothing to worry about, just be more careful next time :) it is possible to repair some minor cuts and grazes, but it's also possible to do serious damage to the structure of the kayak so unless it's a hole I really wouldn't worry.

    SM :)

If you do get a hole what do you repair it with, its always handy to know

  4. Just to say, 2 or 3 weks ago on that site, 2 guys posted that they had landed bass, named that mark and put on a photo of one of them holding a bass. Thats why the Gill Netter put his nets there, will people ever learn.

  5. I have to agree with JRT, why kill 2 fish. One of those fish would have been plenty to feed a family.

I know its up to the angler to decde what he does with his own fish, but i can not see the point in killing 2 great looking fish.

Again someone is going to say its to eat them but its sad to see fish like that killed. Maybe one day when most of the bigger bass are gone, a lot of you angler will start to think like myself and JRT .

  6. Nice fish, but pictures of dead Bass dont look good. It would be better if it was photographed and released. For some reason people like to kill big Bass, why i dont know, maybe just to show off.

You get a much better feeling when you release a fish like that.

  7. Well Said Leon.

Its very hard to educate sea anglers to return fish live back to the sea. I was involved with the tagging program that you mentioned and it give me great pleasure to watch big Bass swim away just after it had been tagged. If anglers could just think before they kill a Bass.

A large amount of anglers will kill a Bass just to take a photo in the garden back home. Take a camera with you when your fishing, take your photo then return the fish, you'll get great pleasure watching that fish swim away and you'll still have a record of the fish on camera. Back garden dead Bass dont look good on a photo.

  8. Does anyone know which mail order tackle shop is selling the cheapest Shimano Stradic FA 4000, and if so how much and what is the address and phone number. Thanks for your help lads.

  9. There is only one group of people we can blame for the killing of dolphins, the decrease stocks of BASS and Cod plus other sea fish, and that is the goverment. They have no back bone, they would rather let all the boats from other countrys to fish our waters as they can not stand up to the French, Spanish, ect, because they dont know what to say. If we had our own goverment on our side, it would make the job of protecting our seas a dame site easier.

  10. I couldn't agree with you more Colin. I have seen plenty of sea bird dead and dieing in gill nets. Maybe the RSPB should look into how many sea birds are killed in Gill nets. I did email them once but had no reply.
