I have caught some nice bream on twiglets before 8) They tend to come off after 5 minutes or so though.

Same happened to me pretty much. Nobody was catching - I think I saw 1 carp and 1 pike caught all night & day. Towards the end of the day I started feeding in a constant stream of maggots and fishing somewhere between bottom and half depth. I caught a roach on virtually every cast. Nothing big, but it felt nice to actually be catching something when nobody else was.
PS: How nice was that sun when it finally arrived!

Thanks for the advice, Steve. I'm actually going to Bluebell lake near Oundle, which seems to have the odd bit of weed around the edge but I think will be mostly featureless this time of year?

Well on last night's show Matt Hayes caught some amazing Rudd. I think it was five fish, all 3-4LB

Nice! How big is that last one?
Those are some nice looking fish, great condition. What river are they from?

Thanks!
Also, anyone got a link to a pic?

That's double the weight of my personal best! But then I don't fish a big variety of rivers...
What was it caught on, anyone know?

I'm targeting perch this weekend, and have been told that a twitched lobworm near features such as reeds & drop-offs should prove irresistible to the perch.
I was going to use a couple of swan shot and move it around until I find a shoal, but would I be better off with the float?

Yeah I watch these shows all the time. Would hate to see them decline.
Hope this doesn't give you a haddock

A work in progress. Any suggestions?
===============================================
I was sitting by a creepy section of river, St. Urgeons Church opposite, when a baliff came up to me.
He said: "Water you doing here m'lad?"
I said: "I flouder nice spot"
He said: "Can I take your name please", whiting in his pad
I said: "My name is Rod"
He said: "Reel-y?"
I said: "No, I'm Line"
He said: "You maggot!"
I said : "Sorry, that was carppy thing to say"
He said: "Don't try and worm yourself out of it"
I said: "Come on, let me off the hook"
He said: "Don't bank on it"
I said: "Lemme just caster bait in over there"
He said: "Perch your rod on that rest sonny, this is a private fishery"
I said: "But nobody comes here - its where they filmed the Blair Fish Project"
"I'll give you a tip" he said, quivering. "Get outta this plaice!!"
Just then I woke up with great sigh of relief. It was only a bream.
