  1. Can anyone help? I am about to start winter fishing in the severn at sandhurst. I thought I might try double maggot (on a 16 hook) with a ball sinker cast out into the middle of the river and allowed to roll round to the side in the current. Any other suggestions? Is this a good idea?

  2. I was approached at the waterside yesterday by an anti who claimed we were being cruel to MAGGOTS! I listened to him ramble on with a polite smile and when he was finished, I asked him if he liked eggs. He said he did and I then proceeded to explain to him that the maggots were bred on the carcases of dead "layers" and if he believed we were cruel to the maggots, then he will have to give up eating eggs and anything that contains eggs. That seems to have stopped him.

  3. I have been keeping some worms in a bucket with holes in the bottom. I started with a bit of potting soil laced with peelings and cauliflower leaves and keep adding food waste. When I looked today there were hundreds of little white wriggling "strings". Have I cracked it? Are they little worms or is my wormery doomed? PLEASE can someone let me know?

  4. I have always said that when the "antis" get their way with fox hunting, they will start with fishing. I want THEM to answer the following questions.

1: As the result of representations of the angling fraternity, all waters in the U.K. are now far cleaner than they have been in 100yrs.

    true/false

2: The angler looks after their fish so well they even give them names.

    true/false

3: Angling is the most popular sport, judging by the number of people particpating, in the U.K.

    true/false

If you have answered these questions HONESTLY and can STILL say that angling must be banned then publish your reasons here.

  6. Just a quick line on something I just thought. How many of you anglers out there have caught the same fish TWICE on the same day, and why are large carp named and identified, to be caught over and over again, if they feel pain. I don't think so!

  7. Let them carry on with this stupid debate - without anglers there would be no clear rivers and streams, no matter what the authorities say!

If they carry on they can have their cesspools back and when they find this out, it will be too late!
