Hi I caught my biggest ever smooth hound from my local pier yesterday!So why am i so unhappy?Well i will tell you about it, The night started with a smoothie of 4lb which was a good start for the first cast!Two casts later an eel and then one more smoothie of 4lb! Went a wile without a bite but then managed to hook into a bigger fish, that turned out to be a smoothie of 7lb 8oz went like a train in the shallow water.The next cast had a masive run the fish had taken loads of line so i had a big fight on my hands! about 5 min later we got our fist sight of the fish,(it looked a monster to me) so my mate dropped the net and got it in there second time round!which was good! So we landed the smoothie whiched looked about 13-15lb but soon as we turned our backs to get the scales the fish fliped and out the net and into the sea she went!!!My biggest so far from my pier is 11Lb and it smashed that by far!! thanks for listening, Ollie.

Hi I fished a match the other day and a few other anglers were geting gars at some distance, they had a float that was sliding up the line bringing the hooks up to the top of the water! Does anyone know how to make that type of rig as i would be most greatfull for some advice. cheers Ollie. ps (i think its called a chimny sweep rig, but dont quote me on that!!)

Ty James,claire and matt, I think i will hit the river to see what crabs are up there! its hard work but may be worth it! If that fails may try squid or even give you a ring at the shop claire. many thanks ollie.

Hi, I am going for smoothhounds soon and i need to get hold of some decent crabs. I heard that devon crabs are the best size, does anyone know were i can get them mail order(live)?
