    Well do they?

One for the fish scientists. I've been trying to establish whether this is a popular myth or scientific fact. Plenty of anecdotal evidence on the 'net to say they have but I can't find any categorical scientific evidence.

    One for Bruno methinks....

    Chris

Fish do not produce saliva as such. This fucntion is largely restricted to land mammals, who require saliva to aid mastication. Fish do not masticate. This may be of help.

Do Polarised sunglass work or are they a waist

of Money, When you could go and get a cheap pair

    of sunglass.

I have never worn a pair and would like to know

    before I buy a pair.

    Thank you

Personally I consider polaroids absolutely essential for fishing. They cut down glare, enable you to see into the water, may prevent headaches, etc etc.

I wear clip-ons, over my normal spectacles. I can not imagine trying to fish without them.

I've just bought an old ABU 9000C multiplier which seems to be working fine but needs a bit of a clean up externally, and probably internally as well.

Any suggestions on how to go about it? Thanks.

I'm not a fly fisherman so this might sound stuoid but here goes...

I see all these fly fishing shows on tv and sometimes the angler rreels the fish in, and sometimes he pulls the line in by hand ( both when playing a fish).

Can anyone help me out here?

It is normal to "play" fish like stream trout etc, by hand. The reel is only used for storing the line.

With other types of fish, it is essential to get the fish "on the reel" as soon as possible, as playing by hand is more or less impossible, ( salmon, bonefish, tarpon etc ).

Broadly speaking then, it depends on the type of fishing one does, whether one plays "by hand" or "from the reel".

Mike - if I may temporarily hijack my own thread - it is nice to see you posting back on here.  Speaking for myself, I did miss your stuff while you were on hiatus.   :)

Thank you for the kind words.

However, back to hiatus for me.

  11. The Reel Deal:

Got my new shiny Petzl Zipka LED head ornament today. Cracking piece of technology, more toys for boys!   :D    Don`t tell the missus.

However, one is in a quandry      as to what to do with my perfectly formed Petzl Zoom and back up Maglite torch.

I`m sure I`ll store them in a box, wrapped in soft tissue surrounded with sprigs of Lavender for a start.

What happens next year when you can get a LED implanted into your forehead?

    Enlighten me.

You can buy LED replacement "bulbs" for the zoom etc. I made my own, but a search on the net should turn up some.

Free speech is only free if you use it responsibly. It can otherwise cost a great deal of money. If you are unfortunate, yours!

Controversial discussions are OK, as long as they do not become libellous, or confrontational.

The main reason I no longer post to these forums regularly, is the childish and irresponsible attitude of quite a few posters, ( also the e-mail abuse to which I was subjected), and the stubborn refusal to accept responsibility for what they post.
