  1. i need some help with some rigs for fishing my local canal for carp, the canal is disused no boat traffic about 4 foot deep and gin clear most of the time. i can catch roach, perch most of time on light float tackle, but want to target the carp in the canal. the carp are there alright, seen them on the surface.but i cant target them there because there is a lot of bird life.and i would be frightend in case i hooked one of them. i have tried the lift method, but bottom is weedy and i think the bait is being sunk in to the weed because of the shot so close to hook. any ideas?
  2. i intend to fish my local canal basin for tench in the coming months.i want to fish with two rods, one on the float and the leger set up in conjuction with bite alarm. the float set up should be straight foward.but the leger is giving me all sorts of problems. having read through many posts on the site, and in various mags and books.i am very confused on the vast numbers of rigs out there. we have a bolt rig, running rig, method feeder freelining and loads more,no wonder i am confused!! i know that you require rigs for different venues, but there are so many for stillwaters. the canal basin is very deep, and has hardly any weed. can anybody point me in the right direction what is the best leger method to use in the canal basin. thanks allan.
  3. i intend to fish my local canal in a couple of months for tench,i would like to try the lift method for them. however i am a bit confused will all the info i have picked up from various web sites.some say enough shot to sink the float, and some say enough weight just to cock the float. also would the canal tow affect the float.
  4. having read a few previous posts regarding cockles as bait for tench.i would be grateful for some advice on fishing the bait.i am fishing a deep pond with depths around 12 feet plus.the tench in pond are getting harder to catch, tried corn, worm, maggot, caster to no success.all these baits have worked before,i think the tench are just wiseing up to the baits.by the way the pond is not commerical fishery. any advice would be most welcome.
  5. my local tackle shop only sells white maggots i would like to try red maggots, any ideas how to dye them red?.
