  1. My own choice for a good floating line wpuld have to be the Snowbee XS Prestige WFF. Very little if any memory and shoots well.

As has been already said rods are something to suit yourself and couldn`t really reccomend one without knowing how much you were looking to spend, as you know I should think you can pick one up for next to nothing and is probably worth that, or pay the through the nose for another one that again may not be worth it. Good luck.

  2. Welcome to the board Laney. Enjoy it here, plenty of free advice given when asked for.

Great to get into a new/different form of fishing aint it. :)

As a fairly newcomer to the fly myself it is the possible reason for fly fishing to be taking the driving seat at the moment.

One thing I do miss is river fishing in any form so I do envy you on that part of fishing.

    Tight lines

  3. It's solid F9 here, with gusts to F11 at the moment. Visibility is about 3 miles due to the amount of seaspray in the air.

Much the same on the Isle of Wight I am affraid. No fun tiling the church roof today at Brading I can tell you.

  4. Both can be good live baits for cod and bass.

Do you ever see angler using live baits for bass?

All said with tongue in cheek Sam hence the smilies.

But please read Simons post again. It read as if his mate put the Pout on the hook and then caught a Goby on it.

  5. Why are some words on sites, this one included, now underlined in yellow and when passing over them seem to be a link to elsewhere.

I am sure this has happened before and am now lost on how to stop it.

For example on my puter on A.Ns front page Free Prizes is underlined in yellow, I wouldn`t mind betting no one else is suffering this.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this.

    Thanks

    Dave

  6. Forecast was a force 5, a bit chilly first thing but turned into a smashing day, wind died away and the sea flattened out quite a bit as the day went on.

First fish came aboard within minutes of dropping the bait, double squid or at least three if they were on the small side.

First fish was a very plump 13lb. Cod, the lead must have nearly hit it on the head the bite was that fast after gettint to the bottom. Half an hour later the second fish fell to the same guy, smaller fish of around 8lb. but a Cod none the less. That was it apart from the bvious L.S.D. until slack water when the Conger came onto the feed. First blood to the Skipper, nice fish of around 30/35lb. Another three were to follow, a couple of high teens and the last was a strap.

As the tide picked up again the Cod came back on the feed, I lost one then another was lost by another guy.

One more was landed before I got a second chance litterally on the last drop of the day, a fish of about 7/8lb.

Grand total for the day 4 Cod, 4 Conger, 1 Pout and endless L.S.Ds.

Just nice to get out fishing.

    :):)

  7. So what would the advantage be of using a circle hook for say cod fishing over rough ground? I can see that they have their place from the boat and for fish such as mullet but due to the size of a cods mouth ould a circle hook stil work the same?

I hope so, I just bought some for next weekends Cod fishing.:blink:
