how would i go about starting this up and what do i need in lisencing area and insurance and advertising. and how much time and effort needs to go into the club,
what would the ideal meeting venue be would it be an office or a pub or a room.
if you have any suggestions please help thank you very much

Where are you based?

They don't
Elton
If you really get stuck PM for an address and I'll strip, clean, reassemble and send it back to you.

Nah......keep em up there for target practice. That'll take their minds off things.
Or......tell them that the last one left on the roof, after throwing the others off will be 'considered' for a passport.....would make great telly......then shoot him!
Or tell them they can be British, get them down, slap on the handcuffs etc give them a kicking so they realise we're not such a soft touch and our streets are not paved with gold and send them back home to tell their mates they'll get the same treatment when they pitch up on our doorstep.........oh the elegant simplicity of it all!

Let 'em jump, then it's a self solving problem!

Get in touch with Stan Massey at Alba Rods and get him to quote for a custom build. He builds quite a few Conoflex rods. You get to choose your own colours etc and you may get a decent price as well.

Hey Ken
I built a Conoflex Nemesis SLR for my uncle a few months ago. Having concentrated solely on boat fishing for a good five years now, I was amazed at how light and slim the rod was, even when finished with guides, high build, shrink tube etc, when compared to the pairs of Greys Apollo Mk1s and Conoflex Ballistics I used to use regularly and still have.
Might be worth looking at something like a Conoflex Foo Fighter FF1 - it's 15ft long and a factory built one weighs less than 500g. Not cheap though at about £250 a go but I've never regretted spending money on decent rods.
Pretty sure Century are also now making 'continental' style rods which will be of comparable quality. Stear clear of Greys though.....not hearing much positive these days since they shifted production to the Far East.
Will pass on your best wishes to Paul. Spoke with him a couple of days ago...I'm sure we'll get him fishing again sometime in the future but won't be for a little while yet!

Not a sign of the stuff in Manchester!

I was given a solid carbon 6ft 20-50 a while back and hated it. Main problem was it was not long enough! Build quality is also not up to scratch....rings appear to be corroding at the foot which is a sure sign of too much hardener in the high build....which means the coatings are brittle and prone to cracking.
There is actually no 'new' technology in the solid carbon rods; I had been told by someone in the know that the blanks started life as heavy duty freshwater baitcasting blanks aimed at the Scandinavian market. Being a nosey so and so, I chopped the grips off mine to find that the blank is just over 4.5ft long and glued into a length of hollow fibreglass which carried the grips and reel seat. The blank is built up (quite crudely) with crosswrapped nylon cord to match the inside diameter of the fibreglass handle and glued in with epoxy.
Having seen this, Ken, I would not hold my breath for any longer versions aimed at shore anglers.
BTW, the 6ft solid carbon rod (before I chopped it up) is actually heavier than the 12lb NW carbon/kevlar rod I use for 80%+ of my boat fishing.

There is no good reason why they are not off our coast line, water temps ok and plenty of seals for food source.
Ken....hope your well after the op........did my father the world of good. He actually looked better the evening after his op while still in the ICU.
BAck on subject, if they were off our coast, then I would expect one or more to have been landed by the commercials. As none have yet been reported, then I'm quite happy to assume there are none!

All of the lamnidae sharks have a second dorsal, this is abit of a strange one it has the rounded top to the dorsal of a porgie ,but is missing the white patch(although on some it can be almost invisible apart from very close inspection). The photo doesn't show the defining characteristics very well ie the dagger like, rather than triangular teeth of the mako. The position of the second dorsal directly over the anal fin on the porgie but further forward on the mako, Also not clear in the photo but looks to be absent is the ridge on the tail which along with the general shape of the fish is tending me towards it being a shortfin mako.
Geeeeez....catches one and he's a f***ing expert...
(was with Gareth when he caught his first Porbeagle in July)

Sorry....got shot of it a couple of years ago (Norrie Ebayed it for me).Replaced it with a 7000BG star drag which has all but rotted way after 18 months use Recently replaced that with an Everol 6/12.......think Penn International materials/build/quality in a 7000 sized reel.....still looks and runs like new after 6 months useGive yer a tenner for it. -
7000 C4 Lever Drag is the nastiest most useless reel I have ever taken afloat. After a couple of trips the lever drag developed problems, including the lever jamming in free spool......... Stripped it down, cleaned it re-lubed and rebuilt it (I do all my own reels) but it was never right. Not met many who actually liked this reel. Strangely I have a 6600LD which has never been a problem.

Just seen this......pass on my best wishes to Ken for me.
My father had a Triple Bypass a few years ago......He looks and acts like he's twenty years younger; I can barely keep up with him these days.
Wishing you a quick recovery Ken!!!!!

Pack a bag?????????? You`ll have to make my bed first!! I can just imagine a house full of boxes, and being told "If you want toast, the toaster`s in one of the boxes marked `kitchen`".
I'm banking on your help to sort through the boxes to find my fishing gear Paul
-
Norrie? Sorry Norrie. I know you were trying to keep it a secret
No trying very hard, was he
Just heard I'll be moving to the new house on the 10th October......just enough time to move in, pack a bag and head up to LA on the 12th for 10 days

I may just pop up for a day or two (or three/four/five/six etc)
