  1. Hi all anyone fished dungee lately and was it any good??? also need to find a bait shop somewhere near it ?? thx all
  2. todays carp talk new world record common carp caught in german pit. 86Lb 6oz what a monster.
  3. just quoting what it says on the website, they've obviously changed the rules trying to entice people to fish it.
  4. not 100% sure but i think it's only drivers who hold a blue badge that are allowed on the pier. just been to the dsaa and found this. Fishing is strictly confined to the left hand side of the pier facing the Eastern Docks. The pier is run by the Dover Harbour Board (not Dover Sea Angling) and access to it is via the gate in front of the Clock Tower at the western end of the sea front. There is ample paid parking in the vicinity and while members of the public are able to promenade free of charge, anglers must pay a small fee at the machine at the beginning of the pier. Please retain your tickets as the Harbour Board does patrol this pier frequently. Failure to pay my incur a hefty fine. Anglers with disabilities are able to take their vehicles along the pier with prior arrangement from the Marina Office which is situated on the landward side of the swing bridge.
  5. Got back a few of hours ago from monks mallard lake. To be honest i was a bit sceptical about going as no one had a good word to say about the place, and after spending 24hrs there i can fully understand why no one has a good word for it, although to be fair if your looking for a venue that's very well looked after monks is the place. pity the fish stock in the specimen lake don't match the grounds. At £37.50 for 24hrs this is one of the most expensive in the country i think, (waiting for people to tell me about more expensive venues) we arrived at 1pm yesterday and fished round till midday today. had 1 fish out during the night a 4lb common and another that took just as we was packing up 23.5 mirror. i know lots of people would be happy with a 23.5 fish but, when you consider there was at least 6 of us fishing the lake with 3 rods out each and for the 24hrs we were at the lake we did'nt hear another optonic go off. we did'nt even see any fish rolling or cruising round the top, which for yesterdays weather seemed very strange.!!! the fella i was fishing with ask the bloke in the office if he could give him some kind of idea on numbers of carp in the lake, he's reply was loads in there mate??? Not a place i'll be rushing back to to spend my hard earned money in. or maybe the fishing was just crap down there that day.!!!
  6. Thanks for the advice tony. we're going mid-week so hopefully won't be to bad. will let you know how we do. 19/20 aug cheers again ray
  7. Me mate who i'm going with is a barbel man so he should enjoy it. i take by very very scarce beult barbel there like rocking horse $h*t. do wish i'd ask about these lakes before booking not 1 person has had a decent word to say about them.
  8. Hi tony, yes i do mean the staplehurst one. we're doing a 24hr session on there for carp, hoping to have more than a nice chub out the river. not a cheap venue, would normally fish elphicks but all of their specimen lakes are fully booked for the next month.!!! ray
  9. Or do you mean there's more than 1 fishery called monks.? if so i mean the one in kent.
  10. Hi all, has anyone recently fished the specimen lake at monks, also looking for any pointers anyone can give me on bait rigs etc that work well on this venue. thanks ray
  11. Well lets hope they re-open the full length of the pier when the winter starts. i can't see many people fishing it for cod if you can't fish the extension. hopefully once we start getting a bit of a frost in the morning all the dross will give up going on there. Also just an update for anyone intrested the copy of my post that i emailed to dsaa has'nt even warranted a reply from them. THAT'S IT DSAA YOU KEEP YOUR HEADS BURIED IN THE SAND IT'LL ALL GO AWAY.
  12. well did'nt expect to get as many replies as have been made. it's seems the general concensus of the people who fish the pier (not having a dig at you either 5 bellies) is, it's a place to be avoided like the plague now during the summer. which is a pity really. no doubt when DHB say enough is enough which seems to be the way it's going and the pier is closed to fishing. all the dross will move on to the breakwater. i'm surprised they have'nt clubbed together and bought themselves a boat to get out there already. i'll stick to me carping in future or the beaches.
  13. and just to keep you happy brum phil i've emailed a copy of my post to dsac. but like i said i won't hold my breath waiting for them to do something about the problem.
  14. I certainly don't consider it to be an issue close to my heart. if dsac can't be bothered to do anything about the way the pier is being used, (and have known for years) why should i give a toss. the post was to warn other anglers thinking of going to the admiralty how bad it is on there now. as i said in my opening post 1st time i've been down there for 6-7 years and it'll certainly be a lot longer before i go back there again. i have actually now put a post up on the dsac website which i'm sure dsac members will read. will anything be done about it. DOUBT IT
  15. does anyone else think it's about time the sea fishing licence was passed by law.
  16. hi yer barry did'nt seem a lot of point. the kiosk bloke knew what was going on, and surely he reports back to dsac. someone has since told me this has been going on for ages, if dsac can't be bothered to act on previous reports did'nt seem a lot of point in wasting my time. i just put the post on here to warn other people what to expect at the admiralty. does'nt matter to me if DHB close it or not i certainly would'nt go back there. (maybe it's better in the winter months)
  17. the point i was trying to make five bellies is the pier is as far as i know run by dsac. the problem is these people don't give a toss about anyone else but themselves. they treat the place like a toilet, chuck their crap all over the place, and have no regard for any rules. someone mentioned they fish to supplement their diets, i think you'll find their fishing to sell. and yes i was pointing out the problems are being caused by non uk whites. and if you was the poor sod in the kiosk would you go and tell them to pack their 7 rods away and get off the pier. not knowing if your going to end up copping an hiding or thrown in the drink. dover harbour board have already made dsac close half the pier when there's a cruiseliner in because the passengers did'nt want to watch people **** over the railings. no doubt when the people getting off the cruiseliners start complaing they don't want to see the people fishing **** over the railings as their walking back to their vehicles , or finding all kinds of nasties on their cars when they get back to them, DHB will totally close the pier. who do you think DHB are going to want to keep happy their customers (spending £millions each year) or a few fishermen that treat the place like a shithouse. HELLO DSAC wake up and do something before it's too late.
  18. I promised my son i would take him sea fishing during the school hols, was going to take him out on the breakwater yesterday. but due to the terrible weather could,nt go. checked the weather for today (11-8) I thought i know i,ll take him down to the admiralty, should'nt be busy after all it's mon and used to always catch a few fish off there. last time i went there was about 6-7 years ago. so after a 75 mile drive and buying 20 quids worth of bait arrived at the pier at 8-15, and as i stepped on to the pier i could'nt believe my eyes, it was packed. so i thought never mind we're here now and decided to fish the only place left, right on the first bend. i wish i had just thrown my bait in the water and gone home. there was 3 fellas come walking past me about 9-30 and explained they had had enough already as they was sick of untangling their lines from sets of feathers. About 10 o'clock i had a walk up the pier and was amazed me and my son was the only white english on there ( AND NO I'M NOT RACIALLY PREJUDICED) as the day went on it just got worse and worse, there was kids running around everywhere, all kinds of rubbish blowing down the pier, screaming and shouting at one another. it was more like being at a chimps tea party. And then the creme de le creme a nappy bag with dirty nappy inside come floating by (lovely) this along with the fact the 2 blokes about 20ft up from me taking it in turns to cast the 7 rods they had between them which meant we spent most of the day fishing down the wall, and the rancid smell of urine was enough for me. so we packed up and come home. on the way out i asked the bloke in the kiosk why the extension was closed and was told they have to shut it down when there's a cruise ship in, because the people on the ships kept complaining about people uranating over the railings. I'm afraid i'm one person who will never be going back there. and i'm sure there's a lot of others who feel the same. so if you have any plans of visiting this venue DON'T BOTHER absolutely disgusting venue
  19. hi bit further afield than your looking for but elphicks fisheries in kent is an excellent day ticket water. worth the extra travel.
  20. hi yer i don't think they do have a website. spent ages searching for it myself.
  21. hi all and welcome jonesey i did'nt blank on the rag, it was just totally unuseable (went all mushy). although in fairness to greedy bait, i emailed them about what had happened to the rag, and received a email back the following day from the farm manager offering 2 replacement packs to try it again. their also meant to be changing the instructions on the packs as they are a bit vague. apparently your meant to cover the worms in water in the packet and empty it immediately (i left them soaking for a minute before draining the water off. and in answer to your question five bellies not far from welling. shootershill.
  22. Got to agree with ya lads. i've also tried the smartbait black lug with the oil, and the smartbait peeler crab. another load of crap, it smells nothing like crab or lug. in fact the smell reminds me more of a wax polish my mum used to use. i think i'll just stick to the fresh bait in future and if i can't get any just not bother going.
  23. just wanted to let fellow anglers know about my experience with greedy baits freeze dried rag worm. bought 2 packs of it to try down at dungeness, and what a waste of money it was. followed the instructions on the packet to the letter, and the end result was nothing less than a load of mush. in my opinion if you can't get fresh rag don't bother wasting your money on this rubbish.
  24. i know a couple of people i'd like to volunteer for bite duty.
