  1. Yep! and you'll need a degree in marine biology Don't know which crab does the courting Just that the doggers seem to hang around the females just waiting for them to start the process. You would have to put them in tank and watch what they get up to, I would say it had to be the male as he holds her under his belly {Big Bully}
  2. oops sorry nearly called you Norris Norrie
  3. Good god Norries are you joking about the lug worm Black lug tipped with crab or whiteworm tipped with crab is a killer bait around here. I would say 90 percent of the anglers will use lugworm tipped with crab as their first cast.
  4. mmmmmmmm I just said that.
  5. I did mean to tie the crab on with bait elastic, well it would drop off when it defrosted otherwise unless you baited it through the leg sockets I cut halfway through the crab then wrap it round the hook and tie it with the bait elastic.Talking about bait elastic it drives me mad when it snaps off in small bits, you know when you forget to wash it in fresh water, it goes in an empty pepper pot holder but it still gets the salt water to it eventually.
  6. You got no chance by the look of it Winter.
  7. So where's your wee picture Charlton which one did you choose. Blackvelvet Oh! by the way Roker Pier is producing mackerel.
  8. Your right your not supposed to use edible crab for bait when they are peeling anyhow velvet swimmers are a killer bait if you can ever find them in the peeling season, the beach side under the rocks in around august if your lucky. Blackvelvet. winter is your mate called Dave?????
  9. lol lol lol your nuts. the common shore crab mate when they are about to peel that's why when you go crabbing you find a big dogger look underneath it and usually there's a female attached to it's body having a wee bit of nooky pull her off and it will be a peeler if you get a big dogger with no female attached keep looking in the mud there will be one lurking about somewhere. 10. lol.lol.lol.lol. I think that was brilliant imagination of someone puting the seagull with a jumper on in his pots, we put four pots out last year in the boat we had a flag on a bouy, but someone kept pulling our pots, so now we don't bother we just swap our mackerel to our mate who has loads of pots for lobsters and crab. saves all the hard work. Nice one Salar on your catch I did tell you to make sure you weighed it down Blackvelvet
  11. The lads I know keep their whiteworm in a tray with coal duff on the bottom and the sea-water of coarse not sure if they use ariation like we do with the ragworm or not or just a small amount of sea-water changed every day which by doing this you are feeding the worms at the same time. They are lovely to put on your hook easy bait to use Blackvelvet
  12. Oh! I see you been a bad laddie then lol.lol.lol.i don't think it would be that bad after all forums are for chatting and asking questions you mean I'll get my a--- kicked for conversing with the enemy
  13. Oh! where in the North East are you ???? I mean will I know the club you fish for ???
  14. Yep I do the occasional one only won about three or four of them I got the Tynmouth open 1999 long time ago, the Newbiggen open that was after mmmmm let me think oh yeah a Whitley Bay one but can't remember if it was the all night one or the festival or maybe it was both. Only fished 2 last year one I fished the quarry at Newbiggen the other was Hartley Skears and boy were they windy days the Newbiggen one it was blizzarding with snow.
  15. were you fishing a club comp????? I keep thinking about joining one but sometimes in the winter I can't be bothered to get all my gear on, sad or what. I have seen someone digging on Blyth beach on a big tide for white worm, up the pier end.
  16. They reckon the Forth Bridge but where abouts no idea I mean what side of the forth Bridge is anyones guess, I've seen some crackers but can't get the info out of them, I like you think they are brilliant would love to fish with some of the big ones.
  17. Robins hood bay ! mmmmmmmm that sounds familiar where's that ??????????
  18. Never tried it winter but some lads do wrap on the peeler crab and freeze the traces, so they are ready for the comps. then all they need to do is take it out the flask and clip the rig straight on and back in the water speed is the essence when comp. fishing that is if the fish are biting well.
  19. Yeah! don't pinch mine will you charlton
  20. Yep! Charlton Sandy Bay will produce flatties but mostly cod in the winter. this time of the year off the shore you will get flatties on most of the sandy beaches around here, but better still fish any of the piers for mackerel I will let you know when they appear at Blyth Pier been there today but have'nt seen anyone leaving with any mackerel yet, the school summer holidays is usually when the mackerel are here in abundance.
  21. Well I use Small rag-worm something that wriggles for the flatties, or crab tipped off with a small white-worm. I have always thought about crab tipped off with maggots as they wriggle but don't know how long they would last in the salt water, kep meaning to try it.
  22. Do you mean the Tynemouth British Alcomers Comp.??????? Blackvelvet
  23. Sorry Charlton got the wrong person. the Black Middens would suit you just fine tide going down or up. The Black Middens is in North Shields just round the corner from the fish Quay. Go into the car park and the beach is just there, easy to get to. happy flattie bashing Blackvelvet
