  1. "The term "Hobson's choice" is often misused to mean a false illusion of choice, but it is not a choice between two equivalent options, which is a Morton's fork, nor is it a choice between two undesirable options, which is a dilemma. Hobson's choice is one between something or nothing."

In that case, I guess we got ourselves a dilemma.

  2. The way IP addresses are assigned these days, it is certainly possible that two or three posters different posters could be assigned the same IP address at slightly different times. It is also possible that I could win the lottery more than once. Possible but HIGHLY UNLIKELY so that assuming two posters using the same IP is bogus and that they were the same person/computer using two different names is a pretty safe assumption.

I'll be happy to go into detail about IP assignments using IP version 4 if you wish but it will be very boring for most folks.

If we ever manage to switch over completely to IP version 6 which has enough IP addresses to permanently assign one to every person and device now in existence, it will move from "highly unlikely" to "damned near impossible". That would certainly make life a bit easier on us moderators.

  3. I really enjoy televised sports - at least some of them - and happily watched those of the US qualification events that were shown. Then the actual Olympics started and WOW - overload.

NBC (National Broadcasting Company), has exclusive US rights to the initial broadcasts of all the events and will accumulate over 6700 hours of televised Olympic events from opening to closing.

  4. Note to all: Many of us have strong opinions on this situation and should be allowed to express those opinions.

If you disagree with someone feel free to express that but please avoid attacking the one who made the comment.

  5. Hi and welcome to Anglers' Net.

If you are in the UK you are pretty much out of luck as far as keeping fish for the table. Mostly it isn't allowed other than on some very pricey trout streams. Also, "bream" is a totally different species of fish than the US sunfish and probably not fit to eat even if it were allowed. Same with the Wels catfish and there aren't any channel or blue cats over there.

If your Durham is in the States (North Carolina for instance), you will be in pretty good shape. If its in the UK, I'll be happy to give you a quick overview of how the fresh water UK fishing rules differ from the US. Just post the question in the Coarse section of the forum. I'll leave the specific "how to" for fishing over there to the UK folks since its way too different from what I am used to and I doubt I would ever catch a fish in the UK without expert help.
