  1. Just searched AnglersNet and you've fished it before, so the above is of no use to you ?? i can assure you dave that ive never fished it before, best off re-reading whatever it was you found on the search . thanks for the other info you found . paul.
  2. hi guys , ive got the day off tomorrow so i think im gonna have a day at a lake, a friend of mine has said i should try the lakes at canons ashby ,i cant find much info about it online so i was just after some opinions really . my friend said id be best of at the top lake ,i just want catch a few fish ,do a bit of floatfishing and maybe put me carp rod out .can i fish 2 rods ? cheers if you can help. paul
  3. hi, is it any good ? (wmac) west mids angling centre has lots of it and its fairly cheap should i consider buying some of it (specifically a new feeder rod) . thanks.
  4. thanks for all the replies ,very helpful.
  5. hi guys , ive just seen this months IYCF magazine and saw the diagram for stret pegging and i think i'll give it a go the next time i go to my local river ,but could someone just explain the bite indication ,does the float go straight under or does it get pulled upstream or downstream ? any help appreciated. paul
  6. thanks chaps, phoned masterline and like you said chavender they told me they dont do them any more. cheers for the suggestions on mending the tip ,if i can find a cheapo rod i'll give that a go as ive got nothing to lose have i.
  7. thanks for the replies so far guys very helpful . mrmatthew, just checked out the review in IYCF of the leeda reel and it does sound very good ,whereabouts did you find the leeda rod/reel deal (£59)? was it online or in a tackle shop. ive been a bit wary of leeda stuff as the only thing ive bought from them was a bite alarm (emergency buy from argos) and it was the most annoyingly crap alarm in the world ,it would go from really really quiet to REALLY BLOODY LOUD at just the slightest of touch of the dial. ta
  8. hi , anyone know if its possible to buy replacement quivertips for a john wilson avon/quiver rod ? i think its a slightly older model as the white tip is fixed permenantly into the spigot and is wound and varnished ,which ive stripped off and removed the broken tip ,unfortunately i seem to have lost the spare tip i used to have. cheers ,paul
  9. hi , im currently looking at buying a new float rod and possibly a reel aswell. the one ive heard good things about is the 13 foot middy mi2 (£50) ,but would this be man enough to handle the occasionnal double figure carp aswell as smaller silver fishing? was thinking about getting a shimano nexave to go along with it which ive seen for 24 quid. would this be a decent setup or could i better spend my £75 ? any advice appreciated thanks , paul
  10. hi folks , im going to blubell fisheries near oundle in a couple of weeks for a day, i was gonna fish the bluebell lake with my carp rod out and will probably leger or floatfish on the other rod. anyone fished this venue is it any good? any suggestions on baits or tactics ? any replies would be much appreciated. thanks ,paul.
  11. hi folks , im going to be working in plymouth for a couple of months this summer,i was thinking of taking my fishin gear as it might keep me out of the pub everynight ,can anybody recommend some good places to fish down there ,dont mind rivers or stillwaters. any suggestions much appreciated. paul
  12. thanks for the replies , i think i'll have a proper look at the fox warrior. thanks for the offer alan but im only an occasionnal carper so idont really need that much stuff, and ive got a couple of okuma baitrunners already. paul..
  13. hi folks, im after a new carp rod for about 50 quid, anybody got any recommendations ? ive seen some ron thompson rods in the fishtec catalogue are these anygood or should i look elsewhere? 12 foot and 2.5 tc btw. thanks paul..
  14. Has anybody else on AN fished this water ?ive fished it twice in the last 3 months and have caught sweet fanny adams, its not just me either i spoke to 3 others today who hadnt caught anything at all.the website would have you believe that its chock-a-block with specimins of all spieces ,even barbel. also saw 4 dead carp(7-8lbs ish) floating in the margins and by the look and smell had been there for some time, spoke to another guy who said he'd seen over 10 dead fish.surely at £6-7 an angler per day they should be able to scoop out the dead fish and investigate why so many good fish are dying. would it be worth another try in the summer? thanks paul.
  15. As a returner to angling last year ,a break of a dozen years or so ,i find im still an appalling knot tyer ,even with just the basic overhand knot to form a loop on the end of my mainline ,so is there a loop tying device on the market that anyone would recommend ? thanks in advance for any replies paul..
