  1. When I first decided to dig it out, I was thinking about 60 or 70. Then I got it out and thought "Hmm, maybe nearer 100", then I bottled it and decided on 70, thinking with it being cheap stuff I was still asking too much. Luckily for me my wife had told her sister 80, and we got a message back someone wanted it. I believe he was quite pleased when he got the stuff home, was seriously pleased, and apparently would have paid much more for it. Ah well, not to worry, we live and learn. I was happy to take 80 quid for it, and he was happy to pay it, so in the end it was a successful sale. In hindsight I would liked to have gotten more for it, but I'm happy. It's just financed a nice new battery grip for my camera Once again, thanks for the replies.
  2. Hi, Thanks for the replies. I ended up selling the lot through to a friend of sister in law for £80. I did try searching on eBay but didn't have much luck for the specific products I had. Even the pole didn't turn up any results. Sorry jimpy, and thanks once again for your replies Regards
  3. TBH I have no idea of prices, so this wasn't just a for sale, but a price check really, as to how much I should be asking/expecting. OK Like I say I know it's not top of the range stuff (Thanks for the celebrations tin). And the fiver offer, I expected (read about it in another post...lol) I'm in North Manchester BTW.
  4. Hope this is OK, and allow me to offer my apologies for not posting much after I joined up. Reason being, not long after I joined, I lost my interest of fishing, and haven't really been since, hence the lack of posts, and now the reason for this post Anyway, I'm selling all my fishing gear, but have no clue what to ask for it. It's mainly what I've gotten over the years, and I have no knowledge of current prices, so I'm turning to you lot for help. I know alot (nay most, if not all..lol) is on the cheaper end of the scale, so don't be expecting £1000 poles etc . Nevertheless, it all works fine, and does the job it's made to do. Here is the list. I've been a bit specific to give an idea of whats included. Names etc have been taken from the sides of stuff. * DAM Litanium Golden Match Pole. High Carbon. 10.90m. All sections fine. Includes spare 'top 3'. The larger section of the spare top 3 has a little crack near the larger end which has been repaired (like that when I bought it). The whole pole is fine though. * Shakespeare Pro-Power Telescopic Rod. 6 Sections. 2.70m. Casting weight 30-50gm. Used only once. * Kingfisher float rod (Code Num 2395 301) 10ft/3.0m 3 sections. In cloth bag. * Leeda Carp Match 30 Freespool Reel. Baitrunner. 2 spare spools. 1 loaded. * Tiger QD4000 Reel, with two spare spools. Loaded with 3lb and 4lb line respectively. * Cheapy reel from an Argos fishing kit. * Fishrite reel bag. Almost new. * Triangular Landing Net * Bait Tray with 2 removable bait boxes. Used once. * Keenets keepnet, inc bag. Unsure of length, but diameter is about 19". No holes (Except for the ones that should be there of course). * Old fishing umbrella. I say it's old because it is. Does the job and is tiltable (two positions, 1 upright, 1 tilted) Certainly kept me dry though. Would benefit from a spray of waterproofing. * Rod bag (seen better days but again does its job, and has no rips or holes for things to fall out of). Carry handle is a bit of a make-me-up but it works. * 3 bank sticks * 2 mini bank sticks * Keenets seat/tackle box (the green cushion seated one). * 2 Bait tubs * 2 section small tackle box * Pole roller * Spare spool of line * Stanley knife, assorted weights, pole elastic, couple of pole rigs. Float adapters. Line Swivels. Bait stops. Hooks. 6mm Rubber Beads. Elastic Tubing (for carp rigs). Swim Feeder. Disgorger. Couple of legers. * Various floats and float tube. * 3 rod rests * Catapult * Hook wallet, with a few packets of hooks and some home made carp rigs. 5. I know I'm new to the game, but wasn't it not so long ago (in the grand scale of things), that barbed hooks were the evil of satan, and barbless were the fish' saviour? Interesting to see how tides have turned.
  6. Thanks for the replies there Glad to know I didn't hurt/damage the fish. I'm from Bury in Lancashire (just on the top edge of Manchester). Cosmic-carper, thanks for that link, I actually read it about 5 minutes before I posted this thread last night. Found it thanks to Google. Newt, I'm not sure how I'd put a nipple in a babys mouth, I could reply with something smutty there, but I'll leave that to the imagination I could, however, watch my wife when she gives birth to our second (a boy) in about 12 weeks though Regards
  7. Wow, thats alot to get through. First off, hello First post on here I think. I've been float fishing every now and then for a while, and now I've started going for the carp, with a friend of mine. We're both new to it, and he gets quite alot of advice from a seasoned friend, and passes it onto me of course. Anyway, fishing yesterday (Saturday), I landed my 2nd carp (apart from the numerous previous Crucians on the pole / rod / float). But I digress, this was a 5 1/2lb Common, which I am quite impressed with. For me, it was a monster. Didn't put up much of a fight, or at least not what I excpected. Was great fun. We got it in, on the mat, unhooked it, weighed it, and took a photo before promptly returning it to the water. However, I do have one query. While holding the carp for the photo, I tried putting my finger in its mouth, and apply a gentle downward pressure. as advised to me by a couple of people, to 'subdue' it from wriggling, as it were. If you look at the photo, I think I was a little too heavy handed, and as you can see, its mouth is quite exposed. I hope I haven't damaged the fish in any way, and did I do it right? I suppose I panicked a little. I was also in quite a rush to get it back into the water too (was top on my memorised lists of things I'd read up on prior to the fishing). Anyway, am I holding it right, was I too heavy handed? Any tips? I also notice my right thumb was covering the dorsal fin. I wasn't squeezing at all, just letting the fish rest in my hands. Also, what about when it starts wriggling on the unhooking mat, we sort of apply a gentle spread-out pressure onto the carp with both hands until it calms a little, so it doesnt damage itself by jumping about. Anything wrong there? Anyway I'll shut up now, and simply say it was caught on a 1inch piece of pepperami. This was the only fish of the day, but a beautiful catch it was! Regards [ 03.
