  1. Playing catch up with everything at the moment after our 3 week "UK tour" !!! Its amazing how dependant you can become on Internet access :o

Just been checking this thread and I see I have been missing some quality shots  Having just come back from London I can give some input into the story behind that elephant picture. See here

Here are some of my elephant pictures from the weekend

The last picture gives you a bit of a clue why we were down in London. Well done WBFC for winning the FA Vase at Wembley for the second year running. Whitley Bay were well worth their 6-1 scoreline which included the fastest ever goal at the new stadium, a mere 21 seconds !!!!

  2. Thanks for the compliment team :) Lets have more entrants for this months comp. Why not try and get the family/friends signed up and entering pictures for this comp. I always enjoy the "craic"

Expect some "Highland" photos from me this month

  3. Sunrise here predicted for 06.09.

My alarm is set for 05.00, to give me time to wake up (that can take a considerable time...) and pack a flask and then toddle down to the woods for sun-up.

    Batteries charged, tripod ready....

You just KNOW it's going to be a disappointment, don't you?

    Janet

Correct Janet, but just on the off chance will have a toddle down to the seafront before sunrise. Quiet often here on the east coast we may get fog/sea fret drifting in

    Fingers crossed then

    John

  4. Reckon it may bring on a spectacular sunrise Here's hoping anyway!!! Sunrise here in Whitley Bay is 05.59 in the morning and I plan to be in place for 05.15. It may prove to be dissapointing but you "have to be in it to win it" :)

Anyone else up early doors for it then ?

    John

  5. Here is a few from yesterday !! Not "official" photos. Just snaps for a mate

Off toTummel Valley/Drummore/Flookburgh in the near future. Got my laptop/dongle/ so will be in touch X

  6. It was the second leg of the FA Vase semi-final today. My team Whitley Bay drew the first leg at Barwell 3-3. Today at Whitley Bays Hillheads ground we emerged 3-2 winners

We return to Wemley as cup holders, having won it last year. It would be implolite not to go down and support your team. Bring it on !! Here are a few pictures I took at the match

  7. Great photos Janet :) Just arrived back from Drummore a few hours ago. The weather did not play game for my fishing or photography  At least the caravan was fine so we are looking forward to spending most of the summer over there again.

    John

  8. Cheers Rob,just been having a look at the forecast on Windguru here and it looks pants for today. The drive over to Drummore from Whitley Bay is a scenic one once you leave the Tyneside conurbation behind you. We will set off early doors Tuesday instead :)

The weekly forecast for Luce Bay is not too clever so my photo oppertunities will be limited  I am sure I will come up with something though !!! :camera:

  9. No - Gaussian Blur is beyond me!

It's simply a bit of fun with a tilt shift program.

    Janet

Well Janet,we are off on Mon/Tues (depends on the weather) to open our caravan for the season. It has to be said my trigger finger is itchy :camera:

Got quite a few "photographic" ideas in mind for the Mull of Galloway this year. Lets see if they come off!

Expect a few sunrise/sunset shots from me. Well thats no change then :D

  10. I did this last year;

    IMG_0052.jpg

It was summer and I was sat in casualty when a bloke came in with a little mackeral spinner stuck in his thumb. After checking in he came and sat down and announced that he had got a treble hook embeded in himself. In true crockodile Dundee style I said 'thats not a hook - this is a hook!' and showed him my piercing. I can just imagine the bloke in the photo above doing something similar to me ha!

  11. :D John as you can see I am incorrigeable in chasing Kings no matter what .

This is my good mate George who had been unable to get a Kingy for a month.

In 2 days I was able to find 7 for him to have a shot at ,after loosing a 12lb one he nailed this. In the previous 2 days I got 3 to 70cm/2'3''.Have not lost my touch as I only got back to Sydney 4 days ago !

It would be my pleasure to get you onto them John.

Just a reminder that they are only in the Harbour from Nov to May.They move to offshore Reefs in winter so a Charter is the only alternative at those times.

Nice picture, like yer style Chris !!! :D I need to catch one of those Kingies  Plan to land in Sydney mid Sept and we will spend a week or so with Amanda before going "walkabout". Will be returning to Sydney towards the end of November to spend more time with Amanda. Would dearly love to team up again mate :)

  12. Hi Kingfisher, funny you should mention The Melbourne I have a brother-in-law who was on The Voyager which was one of those Aussie ships rammed and sunk by the Melbourne.

Luckily Alan was one of those who survived. He sometimes still has nightmares over the incident mainly due to the fact that he saw so many of his shipmates eaten by sharks before they could be rescued. I guess Alan was to little to be counted as much of a meal by the sharks.

The Voyager Captain was blamed for the incident as he was said to be under the influence. Alan has always said this was untrue and as he was the Captains Chief Yeoman it seems to me he was in a good position to know.

DelJ what a small world mate !!!!
