  1. Went to the shops today and bought 2 plastic coated washing lines,25m and 30m,will join them together if ness to reach the bottom. If they do not reach will hire a bathescope! Ok you 10th dan lobster men what is the legal length for keeping a lobster in Scotland and they are measured from where to where? Also what is the tastiest size to keep and I suppose the big ones will be breeding stock so at what size should they be returned?

  9. Just had an enquiry off one of the coarse lads about tope fishing in Luce Bay so think I had better duplicate the crack with you lads. There is a charter boat company based in Drummore,Mull of Galloway. They have 3 x Orkney Fastliners and tend to target the tope and pollack. Have never fished with them but have a lot of apres fishing chat with the lads who have been out in the boats and have not heard one complaint. They are very professional and have a good website which includes booking the boats, accomodation, tackle required, fishing reports etc. They run it on a catch and tag/release basis and are not keen on pot hunters! Have a spy at there website www.onyermarks.co.uk and see what you think. I must add that I am in no way connected with the charter company and they know nothing about this message, just thought it may interest some of you fellow snatchers. I know that a lot of the guys who charter the boats have block bookings for the same period year after year so I think it is a case of book early to avoid dissapointment!

  10. Have just come back from the van today - read the article I have just posted. Plan to be at the van every other weekend so should have tried some of the freshwater shots by May so I will post any catches up! Am going up in July and August for a full week so plan to fit in a days tope fishing then. The charter crew who launch locally at Drummore are "On Yer Marks".They seem very professional and have 3 boats for charter. I have talked to lads who book with them every year and they say that they have had boatfulls of tope - its all tag ang release. Have a spy at their website,it seems a good one.Is it Clashwhannon caravan park you are staying at? If it is and you see a car outside No 14 give me a knock,or drop an e-mail. See you anon!

  11. Have just purchased a caravan at Drummore and am sussing out the freshwater options. Have found out that the tackle dealer at Galloway Angling Centre,Queen Street,Newton Stewart owns the Glendarroch Loch - or the fishing rights anyway. It costs £4 a day to fish and holds perch, tench, roach, bream, rudd, eels, albino catfish (never heard of them!),commons, crucians and mirrors. Has anyone out there fished here before, any tips etc. Or any other venues nearby woth a shot?

  12. Just drove back from Mull of Galloway today. When I was up there seen some feeding fish on the surface in Drummore harbour,I presume they were mullet but had left my polaroids in the car so could not be certain. Tackle dealer in Stranraer said they are in Port Patrick harbour for sure. The same guy said there was a sewer outfall just by the south harbour pier at Drummore which was a good shot, anyone fished it?
