  1. Hi. The beach at Aberporth doesn't really fish that well (apart from the occassional Flounder and dogfish) although the rocks to the left sometimes are worth fishing for Bass either with a ledgered rotten bottom fish bait or by plugging. Don't restrict yourself to Aberporth and head to Cwmtidu just south of New Quay. Great rock marks for loads of different species. If you were to head a bit further North to Llanrhystud you could always fish for Rays or one of the many BIG huss that are around. Local tackle shops stock holiday'Noddy' baits like feathers, spinners and hokeyes, but you may be lucky and be able to get Ammo sandeel if the delivery van made it that far west! Hope you have a great time, and even if the fish don't bite, you can spend some time downing the local ales and trying to sight the large number of dolphins around at this time. Regards, Dan
  2. Hi Chris. I've fly fished for bass on the Gower coast for a few years now and while the heavily dressed trout lures will work, I find that the sandeel patterns work the best by far. I tie my own, but www.fullingmill.com[email/] have great patterns that I copy and use a 2 coat epoxy resin for the head. With some practice, results can be quite good and are of course a load cheaper too! Nothing quite like catching the fish on something that you've tied yourself. Regards, Dan
  3. Hi. I've just joined the forum after reading the threads submitted by others and liked the format. It seems like a great forum with lots of information in a very friendly atmosphere. I'm primarily a shore angler and have boojed a week away at the end of May with the family in Sennen Cove in Cornwall. I was wondering if any members could possibly steer me in the right direction with marks, species to catch etc. Thanks, Dan.
