Hmm, Not really, I cant recall them getting barracked off any stage in Glasgow..I saw Lex, and Stanley both getting standing ovations in the Alhambra Theatre in Glasgow, many moons ago.....Also saw Hector Nichol too, superb stuff....The thing is, Glaswegians ( Weegies) just wont accept any old rubbish, just ask Mr Smeaton!!!!!.which Chubby Brown certainly is!!!!
i saw chubby at the playhouse in edinburgh last year, and i have to admit he wasn't very funny, he just seemed to be going through the motions...
i had 90% of the jokes he told by text message in the couple of months before i went....
he was funny 10 years ago....
i think he's well past his sell by date now....

this is a shock for me,
wiggly really helped me when i got my first DSLR last year, he always had an answer to my questions, a gem....
condolences to his family...

Nice one, Glenn! Love the colour on that darker one, too.
the darker one is the one you don't want as it's most likely to be a bag of worms.....
glenn....do you have any theories as to that fish which have been inshore for most of the year have so many more worms than fresh winter run fish??
i've heard things about seal crap and such....
nice bag of codlings BTW....

Nice to see you back HD.
The 18-85 IS is indeed a good lens.
Bad weather during the UK "summer" has severely cut back the chances to get out for most of us.
hi wiggley, hope you're feeling better....
i got the lens from good old fleabay, got a hoya UV filter and a hoya circular polariser filter and the petal hood for £235.00 plus £8.00 post, bargain methinks....
i'm day off tomorrow, i might have a wee walk into the hills at the back of my house is it's nice and see what i can get.

hi all,
i've been having some family stuff and computer probs but got most of it sorted now and can hopefully get some fishing and picture taking done.
the main problem at the moment up here is getting any sort of light, it's complete cloud cover whenever i'm not at work.
anyway, to cheer myself up i treated myself to a new toy for my 400D, it's a canon 18-85mm IS USM zoom lens, man what a difference to the kit lens i've been using, it focuses soooo fast and quiet, how did i live without it....
i also got a battery grip for it as i have hands like dinner plates and feel i get a much more steady and secure hold of my camera
not taken much worth looking at with the lens yet, but i did this macro shot of a zippo lighter i engraved for my good friend ian, it's his company logo on the bottom and obviously his name on the top
i've entered it in this months comp as it's all i have at the moment..

hi john,
hopefully the weather will be better this summer, it can't get worse than last year, thats for sure.
will be down at some point mate....
yes, i still have the boat, unfortunately it's not moved out the back garden since november and not likely for a few weeks yet, my wife's mother is about to peg out any day and there is a world of hurt heading my way between this and some other stuff, by christ you pay for your fun.... :(
oh well, i have my memories :sun:

Nice pics there mate, and yep looks like some great fishing to be had !
Just a shame about the local problems their at the mo.
Rob.
thing is rob the problems out there are confined to a small area in nairobi and an area hundreds of KM west of there in the rift valley. areas which either no-one in their right minds would venture into ie the nairobi slums, or out west and no where near the game reserves.
there hasn't been a single day of trouble where we went on the coast at malindi/watamu and not 1 tourist has been molested or harmed in any way in the entire country.
there was an expat englishman murdered at watamu while we were there, apparently the papers over here made a meal out of it blaming the political problems but in truth it was a botched robbery by the persons own night watchman, who incidentally robbed the golf club the day before at gunpoint and was implicated in the stabbing of an italian during a robbery the week before.
you know how they caught them??
they brought a bloodhound in from a game reserve up country and it chased up the beach all the way from watamu to urban malindi (15 miles or so) straight to their door and 3 were caught redhanded with some of the victims goods.
it's a damned disgrace what the foreign office has done to those people and their economy with the knee jerk reactions

Awesome shots HD. Man, I bet that Trevor pulled like hell. Looking forward to seeing more pics dude.
Mick.
always happy to oblige mate....
why do you call them trevor??
here's me playing the GT, my mate took this as blackmail because i call everyone who uses a harness a poof
there was a rock pool just in front of our tree and it was populated by amongst other things a snakepit of moray eels, just invented that collective noun, it seemed somehow appropriate.
cheek to jowl...
one of tonys "rats" as my mate called them today....
geez a kiss.......
well hello there....
we are sailing..... sorry!!!!!!
say aaaaahhhhh!!!!

not long back from africa with a few pics to post.
hellbellys polarizer tip was spot on but i did struggle with it to begin with as the light was all over the place and with it knocking two f stops off my lens i got a fair share of blurred images
most of my pics in photobucket at the mo are fishing related and i need to put some of the non fishing one on, i'll do this soon.
i had to feel sorry for the locals as due to the british governments absurd knee jerk reaction to the trouble 800 miles from the coast put a ban on all charter flights to the country and no-one is making any money
i paid this dude for letting me take pictures of him and his camel
there is a double meaning in this pic as you can see the fishing boats coming in with the flags flying
this was named "les and tonys tree", it was right in front of the beach beds we nabbed for our days when we weren't out fishing
got to throw a fishing one in, although i caught 2 marlin and 10 sailfish plus sharks etc, this was my stand out fish of the holiday.
a 45kg giant trevally
i'll get a few more non-fishing ones on soon....

mind and pack a steel helmet....

LOL, A tinpot organisation !!! dont think so...have a read at this...
"The Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc (LSE: RBS, OTCBB: RBSPF) is a banking and insurance holding company in the United Kingdom based in Edinburgh, Scotland.[1] It includes The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc[2] founded in 1727 by a Royal Charter of King George I, National Westminster Bank Plc in England and Wales and Ulster Bank Limited in Ireland.[3]
The RBS Group is the largest banking group in Scotland, the second largest in the UK and Europe, and the fifth largest in the world by market capitalisation. It is the 14th largest company in the world according to Forbes Global 2000 rankings. Its shares have a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange. The registered head office of the group and the clearing bank is located at St Andrew Square. In 2005, Queen Elizabeth II opened the bank's new head office building in Gogarburn, Edinburgh.
The RBS Group operates a wide variety of banking brands offering personal and business banking, private banking, insurance and corporate finance throughout its operations located in Europe, North America and Asia. In the UK and Republic of Ireland the main subsidiary companies are: The Royal Bank of Scotland; National Westminster Bank; Ulster Bank; and Coutts & Co. In the United States it owns Citizens Financial Group, the 8th largest bank in the country. Insurance companies include Churchill Insurance, Direct Line, Privilege, and NIG.
The Royal Bank of Scotland subsidiary continues to issue banknotes in Scotland; and is the only bank in the UK that continues to print a £1 note."
It was actually started to assist, and dig the ENGLISH government out a hole, when the Jacobite uprisings were happening....that was when 5000 Scotsmen took over England !! LOL.... :D
And , the Bank of Engerland is only really any good at helping those TINPOT English banks out the mire, from what I see on the news anyway !!!!
What was it called again...oh aye..Northern cRock!!!! :P LOL, A bank with a CASH FLOW problem....never heard the like in my life !!
nice one norrie, that'll put the jingoists gas at a peep...lol
i had my first forged £2.00 coin in the shop the other week, and pretty crappy it looked as well, the gold paint was flaking off, i gave it to alan and he used it on the bus....lol
in weymouth a few years ago i got the boys an ice cream from a vendor near the pier, the usual rip off prices of course, handed over a scottish £20 and he refused it, i raked in my wallet but as i had just arrived all i had was scottish notes, i ended up with 2 free ice creams.
what an ignorant git......
where my shop is we get a lot of N.ireland students and when they come back after xmas hols and the like they give us notes from 3 different irish banks, i take them no problem, some are even made of plastic not paper, they all go to the bank.....
mind you, getting english notes to take abroad is a problem for us up here unless you order them from the bank in advance.
a couple of years ago i used an bureau de change at gatwick to change scottish notes to english and they charged me commission
in america i got a lower exchange rate for scottish against english notes
as always norrie, we're being discriminated against for being the superior race
-
cheers wiggley....
all the best to everyone on AN for a happy christmas and a prosperous new year....

well how's that for a coincidence mick??
yesterday the sun came out here for the first time here in about 2 years and gave me a wee chance to try out my polarizer and i did the same as you out my bedroom window to my car in the drive.
i've deleted them though, but it was surprising what it did.
of course it will be another 2 years before i can do it again
roll on kenya..... B)

Sooperb Les...BUT, Tonys a better dancer than that....I've seen him in action.... !!!!
norrie, funny you should mention tonys dancing...
a few years ago in kenya we were in a crappy bar/disco and he got up to dance....
it was about 85 degrees under a low roof and this was a fast disco type song and what he didn't realise was it was the extra long mega disco superdooper extended mix and lasted about 20 mins...
by the time he was finished he was sweating like a rapist in a rubber mask and about to keel over
mean while i was sitting at the bar drinking a cold tusker laughing my socks off at him and sweating like a rapist in a rubber mask

Best lever drag
in Sea Fishing
Posted
i did this review and the reason the reels weren't mentioned is that the review was about the rods, the reels were incidental to the piece.
but, i do like my little avets very much, mine are older models with the irritating "tick tick" when you wind in and the cold hard plastic handle.
my mate bought the same two reel (MXL & MXJ) this year from ROK-MAX and they are a better reel, smoother lines, no annoying "tick tick" and a nice warm rubberised handle.
great wee reels for the money
i was thinking about buying another but i'm going to wait on the new Daiwa saltist lever drag reels coming out later this year...
http://www.charkbait.com/cs/csrd.htm
they look very smart, especially the 2 speed in the blue and black...
