To julian or other sotas members,I have been fishing the top pool for the past month just one night at the weekend with no success yet i was wondering would it be worth fishing it in these current weather conditions cold frosty nights and has the top pool any track records in these conditions i dont want to me wasting my time with an 80 mile round trip.

Thanks to all who replied with my problem regarding the weed at the top pool i think i will give julians tip a try and make sure i fish to the clear areas.

Does anybody have any tips about coping with weed i have recently been fishing the top pool at capesthorne hall and even at this time of year the canadian pondweed can be a nightmare,what the best way of presenting the bait to avoid the weed as you dont wont to be reeling a ball of weed in the following morning.

Thanks for the reply common i think i will give the helicopter rig a try my problem was the hooklink wrapping around the lead safety clip.

Has anybody any tips to avoid getting tangles especially when fishing at range using the line clip also getting back to the mark at night when you cant see the lead to feather it down.there is nothing worse than knowing your rig may be lying on the lake bed in a heap.

I was thinking of using fluro leaders instead of tubing which stands out like a sore thumb in clear water i was wondering if anyone could suggest a certain type.

To carping mad from geoff johnson with regards to losing fish on the method feeder i am using size 8 hooks barbless,2pieces of fake maize for bait and the fish are coming off close in to the net.

I was wondering if anybody has any advice as to what might be happining when i am fishing the method feeder.I am getting plenty of good runs which i am connecting with the fish but they keep coming off when i am bringing them in.

Has anybody got any tips about spodding mainly how to go on about respodding later on in the session to three previously marked areas.

I am fishing with 2 rods at present and thinking about fishing a third rod over the next few months to give me more options with regards to bait and tactics.I would be interested to know what other carpers have to say on the subject.
