hi Newt
thanks for the advice.
In answer to your questions,
Yes I am in a position to bait the lake regulary as it is only a couple of miles from my home and it not even run by any local fishing clubs, the only problem i can see with that approach is that I intend doing plenty of day sessions with the odd nighter thrown in through the winter months and would be worried about overbaiting my intended fishing spots as at this time of the year I only use small stringeres and pva bags and I would be worried about there being plenty of left bait in the swim when I arrive to fish.
The weed is thick in to the margins but is a lot thinner, more like a blanket in some areas of the margins, the weed itself is the long stem type that kind of look like small fir trees when you wind your rig in.
As to raking the swims within the margins that would not be a problem at all, but could you explain how this advantage would actually work for me, a silly question maybe, but a bit of clarity on the subject would help, I know of plenty of people who do this kind of thing when faced with weedy water in front of them (not on this water as far as I can see, no sign of dead weed piles in the margins.
As for swopping to braid, I am a fan of the stretch that you get with mono and know that you dont get this with braid, the mono I use is shimano Technium with has a much lower strech rate than standard mono's and has great abration resistance which suits me great, so I'll stick with that, but thanks for the idea,
A question now: hooklinks and hooklink materials, braid or mono? short or long? any tips would be great
thanks for the help, tight lines
