  1. I goofed and cropped too much from the original grid coordinates and it was missing the E/W portion of the longitude. I first tried to find the place again from the photo coordinates using West longitude too since it's the area I normally look at and finally had a Doh moment and used East.

° is Alt 0176 with numbers from the number pad on windows systems or if you have a laptop with no number pad, start>run>charmap and you can copy/paste it from there.

    Thanks for alt 0176!

At our age [67  ]we are allowed the occasional goof!!

  2. Baja would be at 121° West. This is at 121° East. Google Earth doesn't need the degree, minute, second marks.

    29 58.5975 N, 121 59.4915 E will work fine.

I call this Google Earth location, "Run little ship, run". You may need to zoom in or out a bit to see the traffic.

So where does it say East in this post???

    Or West come to that!!

  3. Ziggy, Big Jeff - it's a screen shot of the coordinates but you need to key them in.

    Try 29 58.5975 N, 121 59.4915 E

It is a really busy bit of river in China with all sorts of large cargo vessels heading south and one smaller ship moving east through the middle of them. You may have to zoom out a little bit and look a little to the north.

Silly question!! How do you key in the degree symbol??

I've traveled with my mouse to a point at those bearings that's in the pacific just off Baja California, nothing there, perhaps it's sunk??

  4. errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm, my turn today, can't watch it live today as i'm orfff fishing, so can someone please tell me who won on me return tonight. Only good news of course. :D

as the boat steams out to the varne, i might just try for one of them channel tuna. :D

  6. Aargh!!

For months I've not been able to reply to posts or create new ones at home. I have to put in a reply and then use the quick edit function. I'd put that down to Vista but now after Firefox just updated itself I'm having the same problem at work on XP! If I try to post anything I don't get a "caret" in the editing box (I'm doing this on Internet Explorer which I hate using)

This is the only site I've had this problem.

If things don't get better I am going to have to do some work and that makes me ill on a friday afternoon!

I am now on Firefox 3.6.18

I don't want to upgrade to version 4 because the guy I share the office with did that and now half the sites he uses don't work!

Are you on the "standard" view?

If not click on options and change to standard and see if that helps.

  7. Hello everybody

Help please, I blame it on my 9 year old daughter every time something goes wrong with the pc. First off the sound disappeared completely, I checked all wiring connections they are in ok. I have AC97 on xp and the configurations seem ok and speaker tests seem to work ok. Now when i play music it sounds like it is very distant and pinky and perkyish, I had this trouble before last year. I cannot think for the life of me now how I fixed it :wallbash: , any help will be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    Klaus

Sounds as though the Digital sound option has been ticked!

  8. What's happened to this website [well at least what's showing up on my monitor]

I click on a thread and just get the first post plus the replies are now all in a list, not open as previously??

I haven't touched anything, it just happened!! Honest Guv'

Can I please have my old setup back??

  9. Lazy and a squint, the squint still shows a bit when I'm tired.

Had an operation when I was 4. They cured my 'lazy' eye and corrected my squint to a degree but screwed up my vision entirely.

I never enjoyed binocular vision my entire life, until yesterday evening.

Doesn't seem to be so noticeable during daytime for some reason, but once dusk falls, things start to really 'pop' from the scenery, I'm still getting used to judging distance while driving at night as I've a new tool to my visual kit, just need to learn how to use it.

I actually stopped on the way home last night and got a bit teary eyed looking out to sea.

    I certainly intend to Colin!

It really is a whole new world to me... Especially as night comes. Thinking of becoming nocturnal!

Btw, a question for you lucky people who have always had 3D, is this 'night/twilight' difference in my vision, normal for you too? Is there a noticeable difference between then and daytime vision? Just curious as the contacts are still fairly new to me (8 days so far, first time had them on in darkness yesterday) and my eyes are still adjusting to them.

    Renrag

Unfortunately there was no operation available when I was a kid, so I had to wear a stick on patch on my specs. It was so oncomfortable that I couldn't wear it for more than a few minutes. The idea was to straighten my eye and hopefully make it develop. Never did!

One of my life long wishes was to be able to look through binoculars with both eyes :(

  10. Great news! Was it a lazy eye?

I have the same problem but have been told that my optical nerve hasn't developed properly and I'll never have binocular vision, so no 3D movies for me!! It seems the nerve was probably affected badly when I had Whooping cough as a child [2 or 3 years old]

Anyway I'm really pleased for you, now make the most of it!!

  11. Try Rob Waddington at Rutland Water Fly Fishing Adventures, he has taken parties to the Miramichi for Atlantic Salmon.

The Vedder in Chilliwack BC is a Steelhead hotspot much later in the year. Try Chris Ciesla at River Sport Fishing for more info. Top man is Chris!!

  12. Of course this should have been sent to a Mr Bliar [in particular] and a Mr Brown first! Perhaps "call me Dave" needn't have had a copy then?

  13. Oh sorry we already have it, it's called Non-Fishing chat!!

Luckily I'm able to switch it off! :P :P :P

Just a shame many other interesting threads get lost in a sea of anti-Tory threads. I'm sure it wasn't like this before the last election with anti-Labour threads.

    Over and out!! :(

  14. Like you Elton, my miles travelled have dropped dramatically.

I'm on a pension and fuel could/is be the biggest cost in my budget after our food bill, infact my last fill up cost me £75.40 which is well over half my weekly pension.

I changed from an X Trail [2.0 petrol] to a 307 Diesel Estate last year, so from 28-30 mpg to 56-60 mpg, pleased I did with fuel the way it is! I changed the car in early September [2010] and have only just done 3000 miles. Normal mileage would be double that [thank goodness for my bus pass]

I've also slowed down considerably but am surprised to see NOT many others have??

I wonder how many on here are still blasting along with the same gay abandon that went with petrol/diesel at 85p a litre?

The fuel industry are now bleating they have not had a chance to sell the petrol they have, that was taxed at the higher rate, shame they don't think of that before putting prices up on stock they had paid the lower tax on, time after time, after time!!

The thing that really annoys me is the price differential in different areas. I was in Ipswich for a Joe Bonamassa gig last October, fuel there was 4p a litre cheaper than around Cambridge.
