  1. Have never actually fished the slip or airds point, force of habbit usually leads me to the water east of Taynuilt or to Ardchatten on the north. Have heard of the slip producing though.
  2. Welcome to the forum mentaljambo. I'm pretty new to the forum too and have just moved to West Lothian from the west coast. Granton, sounds interesting for a blast and might well give it a try this summer too. cheers Millar
  3. I have not fished etive for a while, though reports suggest the spur numbers and the size of the fish caught have been decreasing in recent years, thanks to commercial long lining. You do get the occasional ray to a decent size too. Hope you have some success! cheers Millar
  4. Also, I'm sure the flapper rigs will be fine for shorter range fishing for other species, so don't dismay. good luck millar
  5. You could always give it a go and maybe get lucky, but if you loose a fish and hook on the way in you can bank on it being a spur. If you have anything stronger than 20lbs (even shockleader) the you could always swap the snoods on the flapper traces. Sorry if I through a spanner in the works mate! cheers
  6. Hope you have a good trip FF. My prime tactic for etive would be to fish at distance with a pulley rig and a big mackerel baits, targeting the spurs. Make sure you use strong line for your hook snood as the spurs nashers will make short work of anything under 50lbs. I'm fishing etive this weekend, so here is hoping for good sport for both of us. cheers Millar Millar
  7. Okay Norrie, lets just forget about our little introduction to each other. I'm looking forward to getting to know some east coast marks, and to getting to know a few folk on AN. cheers for now Millar
  8. Nice being judged so quickly Norrie. Your comments make me think of a particular black sabbath song. I am digging bait next week for a trip the following weekend. I won't need much worm as fish baits are of primary importance where I'm going - the worm will mearly be for back up so I won't need many and will leave plenty for you. I have been sea fishing since I was 7years old. One of the few good things about where I was born and raised (Inverclyde) was that there was good fishing and plentiful bait digging on my doorstep. I had the pleasure of going fishing almost every day of the school holidays whilst growing up. I also witnessed first hand the demise of the clyde fishing's in the 80's and 90's once the trawlers were allowed in. Watching the downfall of an ecosystem thanks to mindless greed and a lack of respect for sustainability filled me with dismay and anger, clearly demonstrating the potential of the human race for stupidity. I reckon jumping to conclusions about people is another example of such behaviour. I never have and never will seek to make money from fishing of any sort. Millar
  9. Thanks for the "tips" guys. Took @SPRING@'s advice and convinced the other half that a walk along part of the coast was a good idea yesterday evening. Managed to locate a few areas which look to have reasonable lug beds and going to give digging a go next week. Will probably never hear the end of it thanks to the missus' muddy trainers! cheers Millar
  10. Howdy everybody - new to this board. Have recently moved to West Lothian from the west coast and was wondering about locations for bait digging in the Forth Estuary/Firth Area. Interested in collecting both rag and lug. Can anyone give me some pointers???
