  1. Maybe any donations made to Cancer resaerch, Heart disease, Or any of the myriad of other medical charities should be stopped from advertising as well, just incase they help foreigners with my Ten Bob,

That fifty pence would feed her for the day thats all , Infastructure and civil engineering projects cost a bit more, Cutting carbon emitions alone on that continent will cost many, many more times the money we sent them, but if they don't do it do you think it would just be just them that suffer the consequences. Look at it as an investment in the planet for the good of our grand kids,

You have a very one dimentional view of the world Klienie very Little I have found is as it first appears you can be certain that if there was no long term benifit in the expenditure it wouldnt have happend.

  2. Fabulous performance....what talent....I've watched it a couple of times, and I'm gobsmacked at the sheer power and feeling that she gives to her rendition of that song, one of my favourites.

Such a shame that she is of a certain age, and her image is against her.

It's time we all started to look beyond looks/age and recognise true talent for what it is.

    Janet

That vioce will carry her through, GMTV mentioned that she had made a bit of a splash in the USA,

  3. Sorry about getting back to you - unlike you lucky b*ggers, I had to make lunch and see to things around the house!

    FB:

Just about everything you can think of has been "adapted", take the days of the week! What I am saying is that if there were enough secular people to get the law changed, you would lose ALL religious holidays (as an aside: holidays - adapted from holydays) and, a government that will add 2p tax to a LITRE of petrol in the middle of a recession, certainly aren't going to give you replacements (more work, more money for THEM!)

Where is OUR Veterans day, OUR labor (check spelling) day?

Just thoughts, OUR government would NEVER grant them!!!!

I think some firms already call Chritmas the winter holiday, we British and the Irish use the term holiday now for a jolly in Spain you could say the only religous linkn is the name.

  4. I guessed that FB, but I thought I'd add my bit for those deluded souls, who actually believe your comments to be true. :D

    Brown day???? No way.

I see him as a weak soul, trying to do what he believes is right, but hasn't the authority, confidence, or ability, to be able to break through the confines of the fiscal policies of the last 30yrs.

    John.

    PS.

We could have August 9th or December 15th as Isaac Walton Day. :D

    Thats a good one!

Or on the Subject Isaacs how about an Isacc Newton day without him discovering apples don't levitate God Knows where we would all be

  5. Ain't that what you'd call an oxymoron???

    Unless "brit" is rhyming slang.

    John.

My attempt at Irony mate :D

    How about Brown Day ;)

Klienie It could well be argued that Religous Bank holidays have had thier day the only reason they where granted was to get people into churches, all of the saints days that were also public holidays and feast days have gone by the by look at an elceasiastical calander, and as said most of the holy days that we observe now are pre Christian feastival days, holy saint days with no pagon roots are what have died out. It could be argued that all our hollidays are secular. and the Christians have highjacked them hence Easter not having a fixed Date but a lunar link instaed. How can the anerversary of someones death keep changing day?

  6. Would we not just have, A Margeret Thatcher day, or a day named after another glorious brit and just Celibrate that,

What did the good book say about Easter keep on moving around you never know when it is it was in winter last year wasnt it ? In actaul fact does it mention any specific date day or time for any thing. :g:

  7. Truth being told she's not wrong he could eat an apple through a Tennis raquett with those choppers,

I see what you mean about her chin though, she looks like Bill Clinton in drag.

  8. Well as far as a military campaign goes it a was not a disaster, far from it, if the goal was to unseat a murderous tyrant then that was achieved, irrespective of the motives of Messrs Bush and Blair, however I do think we are judging Blair too harshly, he may not be too every ones taste but he was a man of principle, and I do believe he did actually care about the plight of the Iranian people.

It was the mother of Holy wars, not seen since the crusades, so let's not be too harsh on him and instead support the troops who again did a fantastic job, underlining yet again the Brits are the real hearts and mind soldiers, lets hope they can win through in Afghanistan, a far tougher assignment.

Geography was however his down fall because he ended up invading the Country next door Iraq Wich pleased the Iranians no end :D

Sorry chesters I no you already pionted that out but it made me Chuckle old Rabbit dont slip up that often.

  9. I disagree with the notion of giving financial aid to countries in general. By all means inward investment is a good idea... on the proviso that it is managed by the investor who can also get a positive return for it.

If international charities have to involve thmselves, their projects should be aimed at generating self-sufficiency rather than fostering the begging culture.

If countries appeal for foreign aid, it should be offered with regime change as a mandatory conditon (the present incumbents obviously couldn't manage properly) and it should be charged by the taking of collateral - much of which was taken back forcibly in the case of Zimbabwe. It is unreasonable to ask for the present day generation to pay 'guilt money' for what our forebears did.

Using that rational when the UK was banckrupt in the seventies and had to go Cap in hand to the IMF they should have refused Aid untill our democraticaly elected goverment was replaced with somthing more atuned to thier liking?

or does this condition only apply to third world countries, Also most of the aid raised by charities is distributed By NGOs would this also be stopped to prevent Dieing Children and the Elderly begging as it is obviously there fault that they are in that situation.

  10. Ken - There is only one thing causing the depopulation of Africa - AIDS!!!

If the African nations got together (not this OAE rubbish) and WORKED together, those with arable land could work with those who don't. There are people who could farm large scale, but they are way up north, so why don't the countries with the land allow the "northeners" to farm their land. In turn the countries that are not so lucky as to have arable land, could start manufacture (they have the manpower!!!) and start to trade with the farmers. Just think - happy Africans!!

A similar arrangement in Europe barely works is heavely subsidised and you in the past have been a very viocifouras opponant of it the EU! If we struggel with it in the light of residual nationalistic Ideals how would fiecly tribal and Clan based sociatys deal with it, Educate the masses and adress the corruption a hundred yaer plan similar to Chinas could be a soulution.

  11. Are not Africas problems firmly in the lap of the West? Owing to the Centries of colonial rape the continant, sufferd what we never spoiled the Arab civilizations took care of, we ruined the civilisations of the Westen African Gold Coast of Ghana and the Benien Empire of what is now mainly Nigeria. In the absence of better alternatives I think I can put up with the 80 or so pence it costs me a year in my tax bill, I would rather suport the aledged sponging of dieing African children, than British parasitic hand out fat, dole ponces.

I think also denieing the existance of starvation in African countries in the Eighties as a bit hard to under stand In the Sudan,Ethiopia,Eritria,Somalia, The Central African Republic, Ziare,Angola,Chad,Maurutainia,To name but a few Starvation through War and famine was rife. Southern Africa was doing well granted, but feeding Africa was forced on them owing to the trade embargo placed on them oweing to Apartide, they would have rather traded with the world for the better prices thier products would have gained thier benevolance was forced on them.

  12. Bringing the argument back into the realms of reality, how many of you, having entered a life of public service, would have manipulated / designed the system to the extent that Jacqui Smith has, to maximise the amount of money one can rob the citizens of this country of, and as Home Secretary, aid an attempted coverup of MP's expense claims?

    Public servants......self servants!

I have infinitely more respect for the stars of the movies Smith's husband gawps over. At least they **** people over with a clean conscience, their full consent, and don't spunk our cash.

My coment was firmly routed in reality, It is human nature to turn a situation to your advantage, unless you are mother Teresa or Ghandi that is. I am no fan of Smith nor most of her coleagues but I do have a realistic understanding of poeple and their frailialties, it was the system that was wrong weak and ill defined. have you never explioted a loophole at work, good on you If you haven't, I my self go looking for them.

Could you honistly say you would walk away from an expence package like they have because you find it imoral. chances are you would have a bite of the cherry your self.

Moraly she was wrong, most certainly but the system needed little manipulation it was flawed and ill concieved from the begining. and remember someone signs off on them!!

politics is a buisness it is the carrier chioce of many, just as some poeple chose to be Bankers and screw you that way instead, If she is proven guilty of wrong doing she will lose her job I fear that the system is so explioted she is the tip of the iceberg it will transpire that she done nothing wrong, the system will be tightend. and then we will trundell on merrily untill the next display of human weakness from polititions a very public Sex scandel proberly!

Why should you not respect the stars in the adult film industry? they are just doing a job, and explioting human nature to their advantage, and peoples expense.

  13. Turning the arguement on its head Guys if you could legaly claim expenses for a second home knowing the system was poorly thought out and maliable, would you not take advantage of it as a perk, I would have thought this practice has gone on for years, Now it may be the case that this goverment is more greedy than past Incumbants, or it may be just bad luck that owing to the climate someone has done a bit of digging, its also not out of the question that someone is paying back a past favour, as it wasnt that long ago a Conservertive MP was Nicked for leaking information

  14. John

    re your last post

this is not the place to re hash old personal problems, there is a pm system for that as you have clearly demonstrated.

I'm afraid I am reporting this post and I hope you appreciate I am being up front about this.

If you are not happy then feel free to pm me.Sorry I have had to do this

    Judith

It was a bit off side I must agree!

  15. How is old Ferret? I liked his posts!

    Klienie,

You do have a habbit of berrating the young,

Not all of them are Bad as no doubt you know. can you not remember being 14 and full of hormons.

saying and doing daft things, did you never pull a stroke or two behind your old mans back, Did you ever wish that adult's wern't as quick to hand out a slap.Dont say a smack never harmed you as it has! its made you feel that Its ok to hurt people in order to make them do your will, as a prefered course of action not as a last resort. I am not anti smacking I just havent had to and my lads are good kids they have had thier moments and we have got through them, without dishing out a slap.

Times have changed as they have always done there was a time when men of your age thought that the ending of 13 yr olds in the Army and Navy was the thin end of the wedge for the Empire, argued against the abolition of child labour, whole haertedly supported the impisonment of Homosexual Men, and placing of young unmarried mothers in asylems forceably putting thier children up for adoption. All this done in the name of decency. just to add the Victorian era and the period just after it was proberly one of the most Imoral and suppressed periods in our history. Your inflexability will make you bitter, No one is asking you to give up your beliefs, but there is some merit in the modern ways and not all of the old values where bad. Dont attack the young try supporting the education system the people who are trying to effect change, Schools are the only place change will be effected poeple need to be taught how to Parent if positive role models don't exist at home,It may well be that things may take a few generations to turn around but one thing has become apparent It would seem that you can't push and punish a sociaty into lawfullness they need to be led and rewarded the reward being good education, work prospects, housing and governance.

  16. Just in case anyone thinks it's a bit unfair to castigate her for her husband's activities, just remember that she has, so far, claimed £116,000 in second home allowances. This is a total abuse of the system. The idea is that an MP can keep their family home, since being an MP can be a short term job, and claim for somewhere to live near Westminster. What this odious woman does is rent a room at her sister's house and claim her family home as the "second property", thus maximising what the grubby cow can get out of us taxpayers.

I haven't even mentioned the fact that she pays her husband £40,000 a year as an "advisor". God only knows what advice she needs, certainly not advice on how to screw us for every penny!

    The woman is a disgrace.

Now that is a fair comment,

also one of her claims was for an 88p bath plug who keeps a reciept for 88p

the problem is she was ripping the arse out of a system that allowed its self to be abused and more will come out yet.
