  1. Thanks again Guys... I have a Shimano Baitrunner 5000 fixed spool amongst my gear... amazing reel... but as earlier in the string, I want a multiplier to suit the Greys rod... so it looks like an Abu will do the job... you can't have too much tackle!
  2. Thanks guys... loads to work on here...
  3. Thanks Guys... I have several fixed spool reels already... but... you may or may not have seen my post re the Greys rod which caused me a problem... the Fuji is set with the threads toward the tip and is uncomfortable with a fixed spool over long periods... so, I can either sell the rod or keep it in my "arsenal" and use it with a multiplier... so... given the chance of getting even MORE kit... I thought I'd go for a multiplier...
  4. Hi... as a bass fisher, I'm looking for a good quality, value for money multiplier for plugging/spinning from shore... and my saltwater friends suggested I post here to see if any of you guys could assist. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Saltwater is of course a factor in my choie... thanks in advance...
  5. Thanks Brian... that's a good start... has the 6501 stood up to salt water ok?
  6. Any recommendations for a good quality, value for money, multiplier for pluggin/spinning for bass from shore?
  7. Thanks again guys... plenty for me to follow up on...
  8. Thanks guys... all of help... I'm alomost 100% a "plugger"... and have recently been using poppers quite a lot... although my range of plugs goes from floating J7 (I have "light weight" rods for this end of the spectrum) through deep diving and on to Yosuri, Chico Boca and Storm Chug Bug poppers ... and it's really this kind of lure that I need to cover... plus... rocky headlands and fast tides is my most common mark... I always use braid and a fixed spool reel... I prefer at least 9ft but would be happy with anything up to 11ft, preferably multi section for ease of travel... any specific suggestions would be welcomed... and thanks Ryford, I'll check out the Bass Plugger...
  9. Thanks to all of you who commented on the Grey's "design fault"... a hard lesson expensively learnt! So, now that I'm in the market for a replacement... what IS the definitive lure rod for bass?
  10. I'd agree with that Colin... it's sold as a spinning rod but the action is more baitcasting... all in all a very disappointing experience... look out on ebay... you may find it for sale !
  11. Too true... certainly learnt from this one! Still, the rod does catch bass regardless of the seat position ! All the best...
  12. Several points Gentlemen... Stan... thanks for your support and advice... In response to MJB... personally I wouldn't use a baitcaster reel with a 9ft tip action, powerful rod with heavy plugs, poopers and lures... so, using a fixed spool is NOT comfortable with the reel seat as supplied... In response to Jeepster... I'm NOT asking for a bespoke rod... my initial comment in this chat thread was a friendly warning to all not to make the same mistake as me and buy via the net without first checking out the gear... my mistake and my fault... but... I simply asked Greys if they could fix it the way I would prefer... they said no and that's the end of it... but it does not encourage me to buy another Greys... I run my own business and would do all I can to assist my customers... they have not assisted me... end of story and end of Greys purchases by me!
  13. Well... I just got back from my business trip and found a letter from Greys... the rod's designed that way "so the reel wont fall off" (!).. no they can't rectify it for me... no they can't replace it with another model... and they'll keep my comments in mind when they next review the design... all in all very unsatisfactory... no more Grays for me....
  14. If you're minded... I suggest you ditch the spinners... and call in at the petrol station outside Beaumaris... talk to Malcolm... he'll put you right on the plugs to use locally... best of luck BB
