  1. I brought myself a new float rod today to match my new pin :)

I thought I'd test it out on a little Thames tributary, expecting little dace, and trout. Wow was I wrong! I had loads of chub most over a pound some up 2 and a half or so. It was amazing every likely looking spot was literally stuffed with fish! It took me 2 hours to cover about 100 yards of bank it was amazing!

Playing the chub was terrifying, this stream is very small and really shallow and trying to bring angry chub up against the flow was really tough!

Needless to say I'll be back tomorrow!

Here is a pic of one of the bigger chub and a bonus roach!

What a great session Rich. Good to see the reel doing the business..... a new rod too.....does the wife know :)

  2. In that condition and boxed a minimum of £300 and if a few collectors were bidding against each other quite a bit more. There cant be many unused boxed aerials around. It wasn't so long ago when you could get a 1st class useable Aerial for under £70 but not now unless you have spherical lustre.

I was thinking the same Tinca, your one is mint, and I doubt you could find a better example.....you jammy b****r.

  3. I only read it on the net about the Greys being just over 4ounce so it may well be wrong. I haven't looked at mine to see if it does infact give you the weight in the box. After reading that I'm curious now as it does seem auwfully light. I'll try and weigh it if there's nothing in the box.

By the way Jigotai your pin looks like a corker and judging by all the comments made by people who've handled one it looks like you'll be machining for some time to come, well done m8 :thumbs:

Thanks Tigger, tbh I never imagined I'd get the sort of feedback I have had...it's been fantastic!

  4. The Witcher is 4inch wide drum (actually 4,1/8thX1,1/16th) the YBJ is 4,3/8thX7/8ths.C.
At that weight I had imagined they were quite a bit smaller than the AN centrepin, but there's not a lot of difference in size, the AN pin being 4.1/2" dia. At 265 gms it sits some where in the middle weight wise..my match aerial is about 290gms and I think the Adcock Stanton is over 300gms :o .Tigger, if Your Grey's Bewick is under 200 gms it must look almost skeletal, that is very light, they must of done some serious lightening on it....it must be great to use.
But none as visable as mine :D;) lyn
    You haven't seen Richards yet!!!
  5. Hi JigotaiLike Fruitloopy I've been looking for the place to order the reel. Please put me on your list.ThanksAlan

Now, when is Andy going to start making rods...
Not my field of expertise unfortunately :)

Chris, what size are the Witcher and the Youngs Bob James reels.

    Andy.

P.S. Couldn't see the photo, but it sounds interesting if it violates Photobuckets terms of use :D .

  8. Happy Birthday Andy! I hope my postman will bring me a present to, but I think it might be a while, Andy how are you getting on with anodising a St Georges cross?

    Rich

Hi Rich, I believe he might be, but I am struggling with the St. George cross at the moment.

  9. The postman knocked at the door this morning :)Such disappointment.Just a couple of bags of new lures :(June 16th is nearly here!!!
Don't worry Leon, I'm sure the postman will have something for you soon ;) .
Ah yes, it is! Well spotted :D Happy birthday Andy, hope you have a good one :)
Cheer's, I'm looking forward to getting home now so I can enjoy it :drunk: .
  10. I believe the reason the police were called was to report the possibility that these guys had stolen a dingy and outboard, good to see they got the EA involved too though.

Here's a post from The Great Ouse Boating Association forum,

'Subject: Missing Dinghy ( New topic )

travelled down the wissey on saturday and saw three eastern europeans camped and fishing.

Interestingly they had a super fairley new looking dinghy with an even newer looking outboard.

Phoned Norfolk police and they went and arrested them. So if you are missing a dinghy or outboard, Norfolk police have them.

I know the make of the dinghy and outboard if you want to check with me first.

EA fisheries have also been in touch so it seems to be a good result.'

  11. In a word no! Except Jigotai but he's cheating! Maybe I could post the weights and see if anyone can put them with the right fish?

    Rich

Sorry about that Rich, the thing is though, I couldn't decide which one it was. At a guess I'd say no. 3, but no. 2 looked quite a lump too  .

  12. There is meant to be some nice tench in the waters with the venue record over 12 pounds.

Hi Peter, I'm a member through Ware AC but haven't fished there yet. When my renewal comes through I'll pop down and give it a go...I'll let you know how I get on.

  13. Hi Hermes, this is taken from the Lea Anglers Consortium website.

From Hertford downstream to Aqueduct Lock has been deemed a river and as a consequence angling is allowed only in the open season for rivers. That is betweeen June 16th and March 14th inclusive. From Aqueduct Lock downstream all the way to Bow and the Bow Back rivers it is treated as a canal and thus allowing all year fishing.

  14. From what it sounds like Andy jigotai is sorting my old Match Aerial a treat if he fancys a trip Chubbing I'd be more than happy to don the scuba gear, find that 7lb'er and secretly latch it onto his hook. The mans a genius.

Genius   ......I've never been called that before.

I'd love to give the chub on the Waveny a go, cheers Dan  .

    Andy.

  15. Like the rest of you I use google maps to find my way to new waters. Can someone tell me if it is possible to print off the satelite photos! When I try I just get the road map.

Google earth lets you print the pictures off. Here's an interesting one I saved a while back.
