  5. I have recently just spent a week fishing in hull (staying in a log cabin) For the first few days both me and my dad, were not having much success on either of the three lakes while other people were. As you can imagine it got to the point were we were both a little sick. About 4 days into the trip a regular came over to see us seeing that we were both struggling catching, we had been using our "normal" baits such as maggots, castors, bread, sweetcorn etc. He said that he always catches using a small feeder stuffed with small expander pellets with an expander on the hook. He was even kind enough to give me a bag of the pellets to try myself. So I changed my tactics and tried what he had suggested, to say the changes were amazing is an understatement, my first bite my rod almost got pulled in! and resulted in a 1b barbel. The next two days were even better, catching over 30 fish each day including a number of 5lb tench and 4/5lb ghost carp. On my last night I decided to go back out after the thunderstorm had finished and stayed out till about 10pm, it was then I got the biggest fish of the trip I think it weighed about 6lb and was a lovely common carp, the weight really didnt matter the fight it gave was amazing. The day I left I decided to do the same as the guy did for me and helped 2 younger lads out who were having trouble just as I was and they were well chuffed when I gave them some bait, the trip taught me not only to try different tactics but also not be scared of asking for help aswel as giving it, because im sure if that guy had not of helped me I wouldn't of had half of the success that I did. 7. Hi For a while ive been thinking about lure fishing for pike at my local reservoir but not sure how to get into it, in my local tackle shop ive seen some jerkbait rods which I like the look of. I will be fishing from the bank and the water depths are up to 20 feet, what sort of gear should I be looking for? Many thanks JPL

  12. Could I use swan shot as a ledger weight to hold my bait on the bottom, or would this not be enough weight?
  13. I have been looking on the internet at these this afternoon and just wondering what people think of them, are they any good? It does not actually say on the website how much weight you need to cock them (http://www.floatsonline.com/premier_locslide_floats.html) any info much appreciated JPL

  16. hi mate great game .. been playing it all afternoon
  17. I was sat thinking to myself yesterday and started thinking about pole fishing and bait boats. There is a huge number of people who hate bait boats because it takes away the need for casting etc, and the rig and bait can be placed exactly were it is wanted by the angler. However is there such a huge difference between the pole and the bait? pole anglers can place there rig almost exactly were they want it, can bait exactly were they want by the use of a pole cup. Just my thoughts wondering what everyone else thinks?
  18. Hi guys I loaded new line onto the spare spool and its perfect! maybe I just loaded it on wrong in the first place ..
  19. At christmas I got a shimano 10k baitrunner, only problem is the line does not seem to lay very well. It is close to the rim at the bottom, but not at the top ... it lays in a christmas tree shape. Any ideas why? Thanks JPL.
  20. I am a bit confused to what a boilie glug really is, I have seen the solar pot shots? are these any good? Thanks in advance JPL.
  21. Thanks for all the replies guys, hope u had a great night last nite and all the best for the new year JPL.
  22. Andrew I would say im looking to cast 50 - 60 yards at the most were I currently fish.
  23. I was a bit worried that the rod might be overloaded and break, so is the chance of that happening pretty unlikely?
  24. What should a 3lb test curve carp rod, be able to cast (i.e. lead and pva bag) with 12/15 lb line with no shockleader? , thanks in advance JPL
