  1. Promised all those who provided advice that i would report back. fished shore both north and south and had 4 hours out on a self-drive. Nothing but dogs and mackeral, loads of them but nothing more exotic or sustantial. but still happy as a sandboy scenery was stunning, weather was great, selection of malts behind the bar at the strontian hotel was challenging, fortunately i had remembered to pack my hollow legs!. all in all a great trip, definetly learning that there is more to fishing than fish. Anyway i should have known better than to hope for exotic species, I once fished a remote lake in Nothern Ontario but not for me Muskies, Pickeral, steelhead or Bass, oh no what did I catch: Perch thats what. not some rare North American version of the species but good old common or garden British type 6 inch perch. But see the next time ........ Cheers Davie
  2. Maybe not just as healthy now jabee! Wouldn't get too hung up about the weight it's a cracking fish, you enjoyed cathing it and nothing else really matters. Well done mate. Davie
  3. Thanks to all both for the information on Sunart and for the warm welcome. Yes Mike, it was quite a day Cheers Davie
  4. Hi Lads hope you don,t mind but the forum I was a member of has gone awful quite, so i thought I would sign up with you guys, have been particularly heartened by the positive nature towards conservation of our great sport by most members. Live in Dumfries and mainly fish the Solway, predominantly from the shore. The name comes from a reputation for announcing " This one's a huss" when striking into dogfish. On the 2363 times this has happened, I have been sadly only right on one occasion. Myself and a pal are off on a wee mini-expedition, mid-oct, have looked at the map and fancy the look of Loch Sunart, but no nothing about the area. Can anyone help with advice on marks species etc, and any comments on availability of B and Bs, and most importantly, is there a boozer in the vicinity. Thanks lads and hope I can bring something to the party. Cheers Davie
