  1. Hi, I Had a great night Saturday, started around low tide (7pm ish) just in front of the hotel (aldeburgh) and got stuck into some whiteing fairly quickly, nothing too large though... pretty much the same all night, nothing too big although guys further towards the tower picked up a nice dogfish and a couple of nice codling.. Blowing the tilly up around 8pm and the torch breaking around 8.30 made for an entertaining night with no light... A couple of hours on the ebb saw some bouncing rods but alas not rods, wasnt holding the bottom and had lots of crossed lines, any advise ? does it normally run really hard at that position on the beach as the guys further down didnt seem to suffer... Hit some snags around 150 yards left of the hotel for future reference... All in all great time and enjoyed my first real beach session, found a wishbone was producing the best results and two down's didnt have much joy ! Any thoughts ?? cheers tom
  2. Thanks Everyone, I actually cant wait now.......Going to try saturday night ! Went to Shinglestreet once many years ago and not a fishing trip so hoping with help on some marks.... I have heard it is best to get to the beach (facing the sea) and walk right (south) for a few minutes past the tower ???? as it might be a bit deeper ?? Do many of you turn out regulary together as would be great to join you sometime ? Cheers Tom
  3. Following some great advise from you guys (being a new comer to beach fishing) on a new rod, im the proud owner of some new kit (abu and shakespear) and fancy hitting the beaches this weekend.. any news on Shinglestreet (aldeburgh) ? I have heard there is some good whiteing maybe a few codling? alternativley any suggestions ? Being fairly new to the beach Im making the assumption lug, squid and maybe mackeral ? Look forward to hearing from you cheers and Tight lines Tom

  5. Thanks Guys, Taken the comments on board, buy cheap buy twice then ! so £100 for both rod and reel is very unrealistic ? more like £150 ? or can it be done ? Is there a good site (eg ebay) etc that it might be worth going second hand ? and getting something a bit nicer for around the £100 mark ? many thanks
  6. Hiya, Based in Chelmsford and love Suffolk Beaches... After a few years of little beach fishing would love to get stuck in this winter, have basic beach rod/reel but need advice for what will become my first rod. Any advice on rods/reels on a budget would be great !! Local shop only stocks John Wilson Rod/Reel, or basic Leeda... Any thoughts ?? How much should I spend ?? Is Ron Thompson a good choice ? How is Aldeburgh, Dirty Wall etc fishing ?? Lug still the way forward ?? Cheers !!!!
