  1. Thanks for the replies guys ..I was wondering which of the modern closed spools you guys would reccomend. I am going to the staes in a few weeks and as they are less expensive stateside i was hoping to maybe pick up a new reel. All suggestions welcome !
  2. I am away to purchase a cheap trotting outfit as i only get the chance to use it a couple of times a year for the grayling on the tay/earn . I have just about decided on a 13' shimano hyperloop 390fa which is available for £30 . I do not want a centrepin as the lack of casting distance may hinder me. I was wondering if anyone can advise me of a reasonably priced fixed spool that would suit my needs. I am also a little unsure of the shotting arrangement as i am a fluff chucker!! and if anyone has any links or suggestions please feel free! Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi there, I am looking to do some pike fishing over the winter and was hoping someone can advise me of locations in Tayside/fife/ perthshire area. We are hoping to flyfish or spin with lures, i fish a lot in these areas but never for pike! I want to see what all the fuss is about!
  4. I shoul have added that i will be spinning/plugging only ..i dont think i require a bait runner or am i getting confused!!
  5. I am away to buy a new fixed spool reel for pollock/bass fishing from the shore. Being a fluff chucker im not to sure whats a good buy and whats not!! All info gratefully received !!!

  7. Hi to all...excellent forum ! I have been salt water fly fishing for a couple of years on a regular basis. I am based in the N/E of Scotland and fish the Tay estuary/ Arbroath etc. I was reading some of your reports about the mull of galloway and was intrigued. Are there shorks marks that would allow me to flyfish for mullet/pollack/bass and i was wondering if any of you guys have any experience of this sort of fishing. I am assuming a good wind direction would be anything out of the east which is opposite to my local area which being on the east coast really requires something out the west for ease of casting. Any info would be gratefully received !!!
