  1. I took RUDD's advice and cut down a few 3/4 oz tips that i had broke, they are still quite sensitive even though the top most section is missing, all i need to do now is repaint the top section. What is the best type of paint to use for this job. Thanks Nick.
  2. Sorry Severn Wolf Forgot to mention that the line is not twisted.. I am using 5lb braid to a mono shock leader. In reply to Brian Carragher :- I live in Donegal Town itself but I travel down to Co. Leitrim (30 miles away) to sample some Top class Bream, Roach & hybrid action on Lough Macnean upper. Nick.
  3. Thanks for the input guys... I go with the loop theory, when I cast I swing the feeder back steadily and as the rig passes close to me so does the line (Bob Nudd style) which also means that the line passes really close to the tip, probably brushing past & looping and crossing over the tip ring forming a loop on the backward stroke. So when you cast there is a strangulation loop and....PING! This would make sense because the split is from the end ring of the Q.tip to the next ring along only, sorry to be so in depth but this has plagued me for some time and at £20 for original tips it was getting costly. I am using braid but I am also using a shock leader as someone asked, I cant recommend braid enough, mono has far to much stretch for feeder fishing but each to their own. Nick Co.Donegal Ireland
  4. I have been quivertip fishing for about a year now and have a problem splitting quiver tips close to the end while casting, this happens usually once or twice in a session, I am using a Shimano technium DF light feeder rod & groundbait paternoster feeder setup, I have no idea what is going on here, as this is my first feeder rod I do not know if it is the rod or me but I am inclined to think that it is me, I am sure something is wrong with my casting technique but I am unable to nail down the problem which is pretty irritating having to set up again and fork out for new tip... it does not do much for your casting confidence either Has anyone else had a similar problem, any help will be really appreciated. Nick.
