  1. Thanks Darnsarf. Sounds fun and would consider joining you if I didn't have a nice warm bed just 5 miles down the road. I have just bought a small tent though and intend to do some camping under the cliffs near Chapman's Pool when the weather gets a bit warmer.
  2. I may have missed something, but do we have a venue yet?
  3. Nice one Richi! Well done for nailing this down. I know it's springs that weekend but don't know what time high tide is? If this corresponds with dusk, then there could be plenty of surface feeding mullet and bass at Kimmeridge Yipee!
  4. I gather from other posts that the other Dorset boys are otherwise engaged for the bank holiday meet. I on the other hand am still free and keen to get out. What about the Hampshire crew? Still fancy a day out? Aidy
  5. This one is the Cuda 240 (with GPS) Really neat unit, can't wait to get on the water and learn how to use it! forgot to add the pics (bugger!) Scroll back to end of page 1 of this thread to see what i'm on about! Aidy
  6. Apparently they are the new UK dealers. At present, they've just got a selection of rod holders (no fly rod holders, unfortunately!) and some of the triple mounts, but Simon is keen to order in whatever bits we need. I've suggested some of the rod rest extenders and the SEA light that features on SM's crate. Spinning rod holders (bait caster) are £25. Aidy
  7. For those who may be interested, I popped into Bournemouth Canoes this morning and they've got a box load of various Scotty rod holders in. Aidy
  8. Seemed like a good idea to me to seal everything level with the bottom of the drainage groove. Atleast then you can see if there are any puddles of water anywhere. Didn't like the idea of water trapped out of sight in the bottom of the cup holder as this increases the chances of water finding its way through into the hull. Also if you mount the ff on a raised plastic plate, then all the bolt fixings go through this and not through the yak. Only hole in the yak is to route the power cable. Aidy
  9. Just another way of doing the same thing. I used the base of one of those small, cheap maggot boxes (with blue lids). Simply cut the base off, turned it upside down and siliconed it in place. Solid surface to mount the ff on and works a treat !
  10. Just found a 2nd edition copy of Stoker's Sea fishing in Dorset, in by bookcase. Mint condition, all offers considered! (That's after i've read it though!)
  11. Hi Snatcher Would love to give them a try if you have any left. Will be fishing around the Purbeck coast for bass and mullet with the fly, so would also be interested to try a bread fly. Aidy
  12. If there's enough interest from the Hampshire end then that puts Dorset smack in the middle (not that I'm being lazy or don't like travelling). Wherever you choose, it would be wise to have a reserve venue near by, just in case of bad weather/high seas. Just thought Poole Harbour would fit the bill nicely for the reserve venue.
  13. Subject to availability (looks OK at the moment) I'm also keen. Aidy
  14. In that direction, I've been as far as Chapmans Pool and I've been as far as the race in a bigger boat. Looks like the currents could prove a bit hairy. Might be wiser to try neaps for the first trip. Don't know whether the tope fishing is as good on the smaller tides though? To the West, I've paddled to Warbarrow a couple of times, where the tides are much tamer. I'm led to believe that there is good potential for tope in this area too.
  15. I remember reading your thread about Purbeck tope a while ago! Sounded like a right adventure and one I fancy getting involved in this year. You guy's still up for it?
  16. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Look forward to catching up with you all in due course. Aidy
  17. Hi everyone, thought it was about time I introduced myself, as I've been watching and learning a great deal from this forum fo a while now. As a life long coarse (match) angler, I made the switch to sea fishing when I moved to the Dorset coast a few years ago. The passion for yak fishing began before i'd finished the first paragraph of Simon's first article in Boat Fishing and I have since been the very proud owner of a P13 with the fiance also owning a Caper. Fishing so far has mainly been based around the Purbeck area (particularly Kimmeridge) and I enjoyed reasonable success towards the end of last summer catching quite a few bass on plugs. This year I'm looking forward to several new challenges, including thick lipped mullet on the fly. I've caught them to 7lb from the shore in the past and can't wait to latch on to one from the yak. Black bream are also on my list as this is a species i've not yet caught. Anyway a big hello to everyone and rather than just nicking your ideas, I hope to be able to contribute some of my own in the future. All the Best Aidy
