  1. He was filming the go fishing series well into the late 90's. I was on the vauxhall comittee when he did a feature on the ouse barbel.

at felmersham. What most people didnt realise was the opening shot was on radwell bridge and all but one swim he fished was actually in Odells angling club waters not Vauxhalls waters. We didnt mind it increased the membership.

  2. Hi if you ever solve this let me know, in 35 years of fishing i've never got comfortable fishing under a brolly.

The spike is as you say designed for soft ground, some baskets and chairs have attatchments to secure them to. Also the use of guy ropes in a breeze helps. Theres nothing wrong with laying it on its side as most often this will be the most secure way to keep it in place.

But in truth no matter how you do it you will find yourself holding the umbrella at somepoint as the wind swirls.

  3. I dont really have a list i'll use anything that suits the criteria i need.

    I have shimano,daiwa , drennan rods

shimano, abu , okuma , mitchell reals

    multiple lines , hooks etc.

And sorry to sound like a heathen but a float is just a float.

Bit of stick would do if its right size and shape.

  4. I am looking to buy some lock nuts to lock my bite alarms securely onto buzz bars. (I looked at some Korum ones in packs of 2 for 0.99p each. The vendor wanted £23.80 to send them to France :o )

I know the normal thread is 3/8th but does anyone know what that translates to in metric or BA?

    thanks

    Dave

The Thread is 3/8 BSF ( British Standard Fine)

    there is no translation

  5. Its Is unfortunate But like Chavender the safety of my Vehicle has become one of my considerations for any venue i fish.

I've decided against a few clubs that although they offer the type of fishing i like you regulary hear reports about vehicles being broken into at there venues.

But like others have said. Decide what you want from a venue and how far your willing to travel. Then choose clubs accordingly.

  6. I tried using a beach caster as a spod rod for one session. I then went and brought a spod rod.

I found the beachcaster far to heavy and cumbersome to use for any length of time.

As for best make etc i cannt help there i just brought what they had in the shop that didnt feel to heavy.

  7. Quivertip rod with 12lb line feeder fishing.

At first appearance and without further info i'd suggest firstly a lighter line , smaller hooks (admittedly dont know what your using)

What i do tend to notice with beginners feeder fishing is they cast everywhere. Try using a small groundbait or maggot feeder with maggots, corn bread as bait. cast to the same spot every 10/15 mins to build up a baited area to draw fish into. Line around 5lb to a 3lb hoolength and a size 16 hook. If people are catching using a pole you obviously dont have to cast far so just fish a rod length or 2 out or to a feature.

  8. Once or if all the money is used up i can see what i have left but at the moment i have got it under lock and key until i know whats happening with Wingham.

No lock is impregnable especially when it comes to fishing.

  9. Dont know if it would help but in my match fishing days we were getting a similar problem fishing the trent. What we ended up doing was fishing quite large cage feeders with just enough lead added to hold bottom. Add a big bow in the line . When we had a bite we virtually just reeled in as they dislodged the cage feeder and got hooked as the cage feeder shot downsteam. In effect a self hooking rig. we only used running ledger rigs no pternoster.

It was suprising as even a 2 inch roach was able to dislodge the feeder.

  10. every commercial goes out of business. Syndicates which have had years or work put into them suddenly invaded. Farmers stopping access to water ways. Every club becoming defunct. It would become anarchy. At present the clubs/syndicates commercial owners police there waters. Bring that to an end and i suspect all the rules they impose would go out of the window with them. Leaving the state of our waters in dissaray and the wildlife within badly affected. Shortly after fishing would be banned entirely as a public nuisance.

  11. I use a TF Force 8 sleeping bag, it's the only "real" fishing bag I have owned. Before that I used standard cheap Argos ones. I don't night fish in winter and to be honest it's to hot in the summer but very soft to sleep on top off. I also have a Realtree Traker Fleece cover and again I tend to sleep on top of it, very snug. Plus if I am in my real tree gear sleeping on my Realtree fleece you might not even see me if you peek in to my bivey.

True but i've heard your snoring
