I am surprised that you can make the programmes as quick as that. These days it takes me two days just to think about the next operation
Its all computer software just load the image and indicate what part to machine

Just came accross this whilst browsing. I reckon it would be a good bit of kit for the shed
I use to programme on of those (different make) before i changed profession. Makes a part in 10 minutes but takes 2 days to programme.

I eventually decided after visiting lots of shops and having a good play to buy the Tench /bream specialist distance , i got 3 for £300 so not a bad deal i'll let you know how i get on. Thanks everyone for your input

You guys kill me, looking at the average angler myself included, in the cold weather we all dress like throw outs from a demilitarized zone, generally with the style and elegance of a half brick...hehehe
i resent that comment
half a brick has far more fashion sense

Instead of a feeder use lead and attatch pva Sticks direct to the hook. have to dry the corn off first though. But only needs to be on a bit of kitchen towel not totally dry.

Thanks Terry t shirt,
I might give him a call - So the £9.99 rods are not too bad just as a starting out type rod ?
Thanks all,
Craig
Cant really comment on the rod itself but at a tenner it is what it is.

If I was a lumpy-jumper woman, I'd go down the trendy route:
http://www.mandmdirect.com/productlist.asp...p;a=resetsearch
...and buy a decent sleeping bag
i'm sure that theres been plenty of offers to keep her warm in a bivvy

Excellent thanks
Ive seen on ebay some new "Pike Rods" - Its just states its a 11ft 2 piece 2.75tc rod ideal for piking (Not sure if im allowed to post a link?) - Made by "Max Performance"
Its only £9.99 - Are these offers too good to be true?, I know you "get what you pay for" But are these rods ok for just occasional use?
Thanks,
Craig
Scott if you want to have a feel of this rod the guys that sells them is based in daventry i use him as my tackle shop lol and is more than happy to show you the rods and let you have a play. He has a selection of stuff there and if you want something specific he can usually get it.

I think we can get to carried away with rig strength/tests.
When you think about it every rig we use on the bank has a giant spring attatched in the form of a rod.
-
Well it looks like i've walked into a mine field now thinking keep it simple the only things i think i'll try to begin with are cod liver oil and brewers yeast and see what results i get.

Is it just me or is it an hour out?????

Just out of interest what things are you using and adding? I'm not all that keen on many additives preferring to dilute commercial groundbaits with crumb. Recently I have tried using dynamite liquids instead of the commercial groundbaits but it's a little too soon to draw conclusions!
Rich
mainly the squirty bottles, marine halibut , worm ,scopex stuff like that looking on the shelves there seems to be a huge array of flavours. i also have sweetcorn concentrate at the moment its trial and error theory wise. Hence why i'm going to use just plain crum and add the flavours to it.
The amounts i think are the big question as opposed to the actual flavours themselves to begin with.
-
After an unsuccesful session and a conversation on the bank i realised i was probably putting in
a: To much additive to the groundbait mix
b: mixing innapropriate flavours in the same mix.
From this i've decided to look into the world of these additives to groundbait. I've looked at all the various bottles i have at the moment but not one gives an indication of how much to a kilo of crumb etc these are just the liquid ones. When it comes to the powdered i havnt got a clue. So now i'm opening it up for ideas and favourite mixes working on the assumption of plain brown crumb as most bagged mixes already contain all sorts of additives/ flavours.

I didnt do aswell just a solitary eel on maggots after that maggots were replaced. Boy did it rain though.

when ever i've had a shop order something for me i've never paid the rrp an example of this is i'm probably in the market for 3 tench / bream distance rods all the shops i've asked would have to order them in for me and are quoting me £110 each rrp is £130. They make a bit of profit for using the phone i get a better deal everyones happy.

Depends on which species and the individual water. Warmth (as long as the water temperature is above each species threshold normally around 15-17deg for cyprinids) is not the biggest factor.Once the water temp threshold has been reached indigenous fish are triggered by available day light. Carp (being non indigenous) are different they need a period of consecutive days where the water temperature is 20 deg or over.Really the only coarse fish that dont often spawn during the old closed season and on some waters and in some years not at all. Why cyprinids always spawn regardless of yearly weather/temperature variations but carp (as said) often dont.
Predators are always first to spawn the Pike being the apex UK predators normally spawns any time from Feb to March. Most Pike will have spawned by now (well down South anyway) and I would be supprised if the Perch aren't done by end of April on most waters.
I often wondered why in years gone by there used to be a closed season for pike until october.

You might be interested to know that 'Mr Bream' at a certain lake (the guy who catches the bream and who had the 18lber) uses any old crappy barbel rods. He said to me that the rod makes no difference - spod and marker rods and reels are very important to spend some money on and get right, as you're casting them dozens of times. The bream rods you're casting once. And any old rod will reel a bream in, even if it's a record.
(He is a much better caster than me though!)
guessing i have a lot to learn. Just thinking along the lines of making my life easier. Knowing i might need to cast 70 yds accurately. The rods will be used elsewhere aswell doing the same kind of thing.
At the moment its a decision between the specialist distance or the standard. I dont really want to go down the road of full blown carp rods as in my mind beyond about 70yds casting to within the size of a dustbin lid is virtually impossible anyway. I listen to the carp anglers telling me how they cast 15o yds accurately all the time. But as during the winter i spend most of my time targetting cod of our beaches with decent beach casters i know half the time i'm barely reaching 150 yds and i'm just trying to cast straight out rather than to a specific target.

Mine has to be big roach as a teenager i caught a 1lb 2oz fish and thats still my pb after over a quarter of a century. A 2lb fish would be a dream come true. Never had a big rudd either but havnt really tried for those.
-
Rather than hijack another thread i'm looking for a set of 3 rods.
At the moment the only thing i can find that meets criteria are the drennan tench/bream distance specialist. Anyone think of another rod that matches these.
Requirements 1.75- 2lbs test
12ft
tip action / fast taper

I would guess not very much! I do have a sceintific paper which shows optimum levels of attractants for various additives for different species, I can check if you want, what species are you fishing for?
Rich
How much braseem powder to you stick in a kilo of groundbait??
-
Not also in Kent by any chance?
As it happens it is. First visit will be more reconaisance though. I think i'll try and find the deeper areas as i suspect the fish would have holed up in these over the winter.
-
I'd be interested in the out come theres a lake i'm planning on tackling that exactly matches that description was going o wait until the first weekend in april though. My intention is to see if i can find a Bream wanting to fatten up before spawning after a long cold winter.
-
I like to critically balance just so when a fish passes the bait it wafts up hopefully getting the attention of the fish. In my mind it also helps stop the bait getting buried in the debris on the bottom.

I've always dreamed of catching a Mahseer. Might happen one day but not at the moment.
An idea

Its probably not a new idea but it is to me lol.
Has anyone tried making a pellet paste and squeezing this into a method feeder and just squeezing a few freebies and the hook bait to the out side.
My thinking is that a pellet paste squeezed into the frame of a method feeder will leek attractant slowly and for quite some time and a few freebies added to the outside to actually catch the fish.
i guess i'm trying to just attract but not feed anything.
