  1. Greetings, I recently cought several silver bream (i think thats what they where) some where a little bigger than the one in the photo but due to a technical prob thats the only picture that remains. anyway they all weighed in at 4lb. looking in some angling magazines i see people with smaller bream claiming them to be in 6lb plus region. do you think my scales are crap or is it a case of people making false claims?
  2. I’ve seen them going for about £60 (usually £100) and thought it would be a good introductory rod as I’m right on the first run of the ladder with pike so would let me try out the different styles. But if I did buy it I wouldn’t be getting another rod for some time so if there's a chance its no good I may re think
  3. I was just looking about at some rods online and saw this one. it appears to be 3 rods in one, by using a diffrent bottom section it changes from a Standard butt; 12ft pike rod 2.75lb 10-15lb line to a Lure Stalking Butt; 9'6ft 1-3oz 10-15lb line. to a American Baitcasting Butt; 7ft lure rod 1-3oz 10-15lb line. but is it any good? i would like to know your opinion cheers
  4. I sent you a PM Budgie, did you get it?
  5. Yes, I’ve also wiped out another cheap reel all on my own too , that’s why I was opting for the Firerunner 502 over the Eurorunner 250. Although I have been impressed with the performance of some of the cheap gear I have used, even managed to land a double figure carp on a really light weight quiver tip I was using fishing for roach that cost me less than £20. I think I will give that gear a try unless I see something better going on sale in the meen time. Don’t think I’ll bother with the pike rods just make the carp rods double up for now, it may not be a great set up but at least it gets me fishing until better stuff comes my way and I’m sure some of it will last and what dosn't is no great loss at those prices.
  6. Its hard for me to know if you are genuine or not as you seem to have a different online store in your profile as your home page, part of me thinks you are just mud slinging, I could be putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5 though so don’t take offence I’m just thinking aloud.
  7. What did you buy and what was wrong with it?
  8. HI, i'm looking to get set up for carping/Piking and the cheapest it looks like i can do it is through Dragon carp. although when you buy alot of cheap stuff its still not cheap. has anyone tried any of the following so they can give me an opinion on wether its money well spent or wasted. Firerunner 502' Carp 'Runner' Style Reel £29.99 buy one get one free ‘Dynamo Compact’ 12ft. 3 Piece Carp Rod £20 for 2 Complete Folding Leg Rod Pod for 3 rods £24.99 ‘Microtek’ Bite Alarm With Free Batteries! £19.99 buy one get one free ‘Pike Attak’ PowerCaster Pike Rods 9ft. – 6.0lbs £12.99 ‘Pike Attak’ 12ft. – 3.0lbs £14.99 Theres other stuff on there like like the fish handling gear and bits and bobs of tackling up stuff i'm looking at but its the listed i'm most uncertain about. Sorry if this looks like a plug for the shop it isn't intended that way. Cheers
  9. Could be worse i went today and blanked, dosen't happen often but it happens.
  10. I don't know any "old hands" so will probably be going it alone but i am getting as much education as i can from from various books and dvd's so i will have an idea what to expect however i know theory is never as good as experience.
  11. Hi Most of the tackle i have is aimed at the lighter side of fishing and i was thinking of investing in some more heavy duty stuff. Is it possible to invest in just one lot of gear that would be suitable for Pike and Carp or do the needs of these type of fish differ too much? Cheers
  12. looks like thats the little fella, never heard of them before, you live and learn
  13. Hi, at the weekend i was catching a few fish wich to me could have only been perch gudgeon hybrids, is this possible? They where about 4 inches long maybe smaller, they had the spekaled fin markings and skin markings of the gudgeon but the rough skin and spiked fins of a perch. they also had a purplish eye wich vairied from fish to fish. i also caught some normal gudgeon from the same spot.
  14. Just looked at that site, they charge £30 per part week per dog, and with 3 dogs that adds up. yup being a dog owner cetainly does limit you a bit. theres always the choice of kennels but they are expensive and i prefer having them with me anyway.
  15. Yeah, that definatly looks like an option, seen a place there that may be suitable. i want to compare a few places though before i set anything stone.
  16. thats good, time for a bit of experimenting then, shop ground baits seem to be a bit pricey if you consider what you can make your own for and from.
  17. So using a substitute for bread i.e a diffrent substance that binds and clouds in a similar fasion wouldn't work as well becouse it wouldn't have yeast?
  18. It'll be me the wife and dogs, was looking for something like a cottage with fishing either onsite or close. the activities will mostly be fishing, walking the dogs and erm...i'm willing to travel anyplace in england wales od southen scotland (by car) spending upto around £300ish give or take for a weeks lodgings (self catered or catered welcome). i think i answered all your questions
  19. This may sound like a novice question however here it goes. Is the purpose of putting bread crumb in ground bait purely to create a cloud in the water or does it have other purposes too?
  20. cool now that i know its worth it, all i have to do is find the right spot cheers. ( And if anyone knows of a holiday cottage on a good Pike/Chub venue all the better)
  21. I think Pike would be the most exiting but i wouldnt rule chub out either, as long as something was taking to make it worth while i'd be happy.
  22. it would be uk, coarse fishing.
  23. IS it worth going on a specific fishing holiday in late november or would things of really slowed down by then?
  24. There was no saw dust invole when i experienced it.
