Chevin getting use to the alvey now,casting a good distance 100 yrds +,got told a little tip,put reel handle facing down loop the line around then hold the line with your finger like fixed spool reel,but make sure your first rod ring is very big,i cut mine of and got an extra 30 yrds, better than a hand line

just got alvey 650 reel can anybody help on how much line to put on, thinking of using 80lb braid and 60lb shockleader,to try of the cliffs at bempton
