  2. Has anyone ever read "Fly Fishing" by J. R. Hartley I know, showing my age
  3. Thanks Bob, For my sins I live in Milton Keynes, crap place but a lot of water and of all types, canal, around 300 acres of lakes (from 1 acre to 90 acres), the Ouse and Ouzel, so plenty of variation all in one club. I planned to go and play with my new toy on the GUC this weekend, but with frost forecast for the next few days, may go onto the Ouse or a commercial lake
  4. I have just bought a cheap 11m pole to try out this dark art, i have never used one before, can anyone give me any tips. I know what elasticating a pole is, but not having used one, I am unsure how to go about it, again advice is sought. The pole kit I have bought looks incedibly cheap, can anyone tell me if I have bought a dud. Its a DM KickStart 11.0m Pole with a DM Pole Roller and 5 Avanti Ready Pole Rigs, all from Dragoncarpdirect. It's on their specials front page if anyone wants to look Thanks

  6. Spent 4 hours in a biting wind, results a mixed bag of roach and perch, with a gudgeon, too small to register on a pole float. Best fish- roach about 1lb
  7. Thanks everyone, I am going to give it a try tomorrow, will let you know the results Steve_MK A born again fisherman
  8. Probably Roach, rudd and whatever comes to hand (or hook), will not be looking for carp or pike. Percha re supposed to be good there Steve_MK A born again fisherman
  9. Having just moved to Milton Keynes, i have discovered there is a mass of fishing posibilities and a lot of fishing all year. I have been told by the local club that the Grand Union Canal to the north of the town is good winter fishing, I have never fished a canal before, I would assume it is similar to a lake. Any tips on technique, baits etc would be appriciated. Steve_MK A born again fisherman
