  1. cheers, Thanks for the words of wisdom. I'll take a closer look at Daiwa.
  2. I'm looking for a boat reel with level-wind suitable for 20-30lb downtiding around £100-00 mark. Prefer Lever Drag, but not too fussy. At the moment I'm considering Penn 320LD / 225LD, Shimanl TLD15 or Daiwa SL 350. Any thoughts or recommendations gratefully received - trouble is it's hard to 'try before you buy'!
  3. Jon, I've been fishing from my yak at Portland Harbour for the past 3 years, but haven't got beyond trolling for bass, and wouldn't say I know what I'm doing particularly. Good session on Monday - 7 schoolies, 1 gar and 1 cuttlefish! Would be interested in discussing other tactics and marks, and generally extending my repetoire a bit. Let me know if you've got any bright ideas! Rich.
  4. Been reading this site with great interest for some time - thought it was about time I posted an entry! I think it depends on depth of water, clarity, and bottom structure. I troll for bass in shallow, clear water, and find that smallish (e.g. 11cm) jointed shallow running plugs in blue / silver or black / silver (natural colours) work best for me. Rapala J11 is a favourite, although I pick cheaper lures up that work just as well. Yo-zuri crystal minnow, although not jointed, is another great sub-surface lure. Hope this helps.
