  1. Thanks Guys, you are right about Strangfords fast waters up to 10 knots at times in between "the narrrows" but i wouldn't be kayaking there. A guy drowned a while back in his kayak, there is a whirlpool called the routin wheel. He would have probably been ok if he hadn't of fell out of his yak and it pulled him down. As far as safety goes I have a good respect for the sea from kitesurfing and sailing from an early age. I will still read up on all the safety issues regarding the yaks tho. I thought the P15 had a higher freeboard than the Scupper pro therfore drier but im probably wrong. I will give it plenty more research and try before i buy if I can. As far as size goes im 6ft and 11 1/2 stone, 32ish waist so size isn't a problem. Again many thanks Mick
  2. Hello, everyone, I stumbled upon this excellent forum today whilst researching info on sit on top kayaks for fishing / diving and general exploring. I am from Downpatrick / Strangford in Co Down (NI) and its an ideal spot for a kayak. I am a kitesurfer but am increasinly becomming annoyed at spending big money on gear and not being able to get out all the time so I have taken an interest in the kayaks after being on my mates sit in kayak numerous times in the Quoile River in Downpatrick. Strangford Lough Images - GOTO IMAGE LIBRARY - LANDSCAPE Today i have spent since 12pm till 7pm sitting looking up all the kayak manufactures, prices and other information and have decided that I want to buy an Ocean Kayak Prowler 15 as i will mostly be in saltwater inshore bays, and maybe less than 1 mile offshore at Sheepland Cliffs (incase people know the area lol - I doubt it!) I have some general questions to ask about the sport / kayak Is there still a problem with the Scupper holes on the Prowlers? Would it be a problem carrying it on a VW polo? ( i measured car its 14 feet!) Is there any members from Northern Ireland direction that I could go out with? And finally, are there supplier problems and who is the best supplier to get a prowler off? I can't wait to get this yak and rig it out with a compass, fishfinder etc especailly as the weather is great now! Thanks in advance Mick
