  2. Interesting...I'm off to the island in August and have never fished it either. I rather fancy the southwest side close to the Needles...just a hunch.

  3. Hi guys and girls

Im venturing down to shanklin in a week or so to see a friend, and i was thinking about taking a lure rod with me to have a go at the bass while she's at work, so i was just wondering if this is a good idea or not, or for any information really on where to try in shanklin. i looked on google earth and the groynes look interesting?? Is there any rock marks in shanklin or anything?

    Thanks in advance

    Danny

Sandown pier is just a stones throw away ,,,good float venue as well,,,,,,,,if you pick up the IOW guide book (free)on the ferry , theres Scotties tackle shop in the adds ,,,,,,they always know whats going on ,,,,,,,,,good luck , rich,
  4. Just to stick my 5 eggs in , it was riche that got me started on yak fishing i saw him out there when i was shore fishing quite a few times ,

My first paddle was at last years demo weekend , ime now hooked & looking forward to the summer  & calm sea:s .

If it wasent for richi & his freindly bunch of mates giving up there valuable fishing time to show us the set ups ect , then i for one probably would not have followed it up ,,,,,rich,

  5. B) As overrun said ,,,bream tactics will work ,,,,lift it a foot from the bottom & let it drop every 10 seconds ,,,,small weight , 2 ft 1 hook snood small strong hook ,

Ive had a smallish one bite a crapp hook in half while ime trying to unhook it , rich,

  6. Lucky you - I was out on the Nene for 4 hours and went to have a sandwich. All i could smell suddenly was dogshit. Groundbait tub had been rested on some when loading and it was everywhere. Anglersafloat ahs the funniest fishing reporrt you ever read ;D

:D yep i heard about that , the horrible bit in me thought it was dead funny,,,,,,, :D

  7. well just a quick update, things are turning out well, we now have palm coming, and also there should be a good selection of fish finders and other gadgets,

hope to see many of you

    john (jasp)

Hi john er (jasp), ive been watching your venture grow ,,,,,,,fantastic,,ime off on holliday that sat thats why ive not entered , ,Bu**er , cant even blame the strife , i booked it , :) , wish you well with it ,,,,see you at mudeford ,,,,GB,, err ( tiz me, :D lucky ),,bhaaaa :D:rolleyes:

  8. does anyone know where i can purchase small plastic carabiner's from please? looked all over the place to no avail.

I wouldent bother mate , if you go have look around a good chandlers you can get all sizes in stainless , the small ones you probably need are 1.99, or close ,,,,,,

  9. Hi mate ,like you , i got a bit fed up with shore , got a kayack now , one thing that realy pi$$ed me of even more than blanking , was land dogs peeing on your gear ,,,,,no probs now ,, :D
  10. What about bass they used to show well after a good winters blow??

Hi ken how are you keeping ,,,,times seemed to have changed since you lived here ,,, we all had a few checkers in and after a storm as kids ,,,,,but allas ,,,,,i think the gill neters have reaped several generations ,,,,,,,leaving us with the odd big wise survivor , or the 4 inch stuff ,,,not much in between,,,,grim days mate ,, roll on the 1 mile limit .......

  11. I tryed some of the gulp stuff .using it like a jelly worm ,,,0,,,just a bad day i expect . i also tryed some of that fish & strips stuff in the summer of 06 when the 3 inch bream were striping the hooks as the bait landed ,,,,not a sniff , not even a mackeral or a scad ,,,& they throw them selves out of the water in to your bag,,,,,i seem to think , if the water is clear & u can use it as a visual movement bait ... you might just have a chance with that stuff ,,,,otherwise its proper bait rules ,,,,,ps ,,, some of that fibre based stuff is good for tipping off....gives the 2inch pout a bit of fun ,,& you never know the fuss might just get noticed by summit a bit bigger,,,,,,,,,,GB,,,

  12. To damn rough down there at pres,,,,,but there are few whiting about at night ,within that casting range on most common baits

Bournemouth pier is worth a go in the day time . but dont hold your breath ,,, seem to get 20 bad days to 1 good day at that place ,,

Then theres poole harbour for a few flounders ,,,if you catch them nearer the main entrance they dont taste to muddy,,,,,,its all very hit & miss at pres though,,,,,,,

  13. I know it wernt on the starting grid ..but for something easy to use , Diawa 7ht ,the older black model for clean beach work ,wont cost much these days either ,,green abu mags with 1 brake block next best to use ,, penn 525 mags a brilliant stronger reel ,,,but a tad tempermental at times for no reason,, but one little tip ,,,get your casting consistant before you start blaming the reel ,,

  14. Shore fishing,,,,, the fish come in on the tide to eat the stuff thats been left about at low tide ,,my old man said that 40years ago ,,,,& after spending sh*t loads of money on long range casting gear , i think he was right ,ive had fish this year 20yds out ,, trouble is fishings so crapp now theres no patern to follow ,,,it just seems to be lucky or not now,,,

  15. Me and Pete, will be leaving shortly for the conger bash, been looking forward to this, see you later folks.
Went down to try a easy paddle about with a demo yack ...bloomin brilliant ,,,,met all the names that i read about as well,,,could well be the way to go ,,,,the shore fishing is like the lottery around here ,,,,,, cant even think about going out to the needles in one though ,,,,,leave that to richie & overrun,,,,
