I think ocean kayaks have had plenty of 'publicity' on here - its a double edged sword though, some good, some bad.
Ppl here will test the Dorado, maybe buy one and either extoll their virtues or slate them.
I think peeps here can work out the difference between a salesman and a consumer and they can listen to who they choose.
Or make their own mind up.
I'm interested in trying one FWIW and don't think its a problem Speciman - or anyone else who is 'known' on here - sticking up a link.
Most of the regulars know Simon anyway.
Storm in a teacup.
Does "known" on here equate to being in the "sales" bretheren?

Well your great experience just doesnt show in you previous post
I myself have a Prowler15 but would say the Kaskazi kayak was way more stable as I have seen it handle in the flesh.
And when you post about Zippy and Bungle (Somerset in Jumpers or Jersy)Try looking at the spelling Zzippy as in Zziplex.I think there is a difference between a Puppet and a Fishing Rod Make.
But if you like Puppets that much just carry on speaking to Wind power
Ooooops.I had better be careful what I say.Just seen Wind power was in the Marines
This is a great past time whilst at work I was getting a bit bored till now.
Thanks for the reply, although not as requested, I see you have a prowler 15?. You didn't answer the question, however, regarding experience and knowledge. I did notice that you say you have tried the Kaskazi in the flesh even though they have only just been released the UK. Normally only commercial sponsors get this advanced treatment?. Enough said. Forget the pun on words and commercial spin and just answer the question regarding experience to justify your comments and I will bow to your superior knowledge.........Waiting with baited breath

Ahhh.I see you only have 10 posts.Your either a TROLL or from a rival company Just goes to show you know Jack s*** about Kayaks though
I wasn't going to answer this but I am curious so here goes. ZZZZZippy, I am a senior member of the BCU (British Canoe Union) I hold level 5 instructor in sea kayaking, I run regular expeditions in the Hebrides (not going to commercialise with my site!!!) and have over 30 years experience in kayaking, starting in the marines as a diver/canoeist. I have run kayak survival courses, both in the service and civilian and I am also an experienced diver.
I have seen kayaks develop in shape and design over many years and I have paddled many of them, some in operations that were military orientated. I have owned many types of kayak including, ocean, perception, Prijon, etc, etc. I owe none of them any commercial favour, but I value my right to have my say.
I believe that I am reasonably astute when it comes to kayak knowledge and I would be grateful if you were to post your experience and qualifications regarding kayaking and all things marine, seeing as you have chosen to quote me as "knowing jack sh1t about kayaks"
Basically, put up or ZZZZZZZZZZip it

There are two threads on the forum at the moment with a similar vein - this one and the Bag limits / licences thread.
Heated bedate and airing opposing views are what forums are all about and an exchange of views is undoubtledly healthy for the wider understanding of these highly personal views.
I am getting fed up though, with the constant snipping and flaming of these threads, with banal and petty comments, squarely aimed at individuals, which only serve to devalue the exchange of ideas and beliefs.
Comments like ''Lighten up'' and ''Get a life'' are the replies fired off, when well thought out and constructive posts are made, by the victims of the sniper in question.
What possible value do these comments bring to the thread?
The answer is none - so from now on I shan't be reading any of his posts - they are not worth my time.
Cheers
Steve Pitts
Well said mate

I was supposed to be going for the first time ever today, but had to cancel Luckily, we've managed to rearrange the ferry tickets for February. I thought we'd lose the money, but they were really good about it.
Good luck and let us know how you get on!
Enjoy wish I could make it!!

Your very much like me in that you have seen better and still like to think that if you keep on trying that big one is just round the corner.
But if you are just starting out it is a different story and after a couple of blanking sessions you kick it into touch.
It is not about us mate it is about the future our grand children and their kids.
Ha ha, love the avatay

QUOTE(Norm B @ Oct 22 2006, 11:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well done and very tasty they are too. I usually keep a couple of bream as I prefer them to bass, it's just that bass are more prolific and easier to catch round here.
Ooooh very nice, well done!!

Well said Somerset I will not answer him as I am not a troll, whatever that is, but I do notice that some seem to stick together on commercial issues, maybe money IS involved?. I value EVERYBODY's opinnion but trying to shout people down just shows some kind of guilt or something. I am certainly NOT from a company, and I find the acusation strange and defensive?. Anybody else want to come clean on the bung front?????

May be so, and saying so is ok but i feel that stating who will sell them is a sales pitch and if they wish to sell then their is a way of doing it without using a forum like this, may be Agent might just wish to place a sponer link on the forum instead of posting as such. But how nuch would that cost?
We can all make our own mind as to who and were we purchase items and post links to sites that assist.
Actually, no commercial harm done, they are bloomin awful They look like a cheap, slim, pedalow and you will notice a lot of them have sponsons for stability! why is that?......obvious really! UNSTABLE

Rumour has it that a limited number of composite 'super kayaks', the updated Dorado and Pelican will be reaching UK shores next week. Competively priced against the more expensive plastic sit on tops these kayaks come rudder enabled as standard.
On many international kayak fishing forums, the Kaskazi Dorado and Pelican kayaks are highly regarded fishing kayaks. I'm sure a few of us here have taken more than a passing interest in them, myself included.
For further details contact forum member and UK Kaskazi Agent, Simon Everett (who is unaware I am starting this thread. I wanted to help him and other members here out. So far on this forum we've had a presence from Malibu, Hobie and Ocean Kayak, why not Kaskazi too? ).
Some Links:
I take it you are on a bung from them then? I thought this was for kayakers to share thoughts not commercialism for you and that Simon Everet bloke?

Ditto Musket! It really is time everyone started to think of long term and sustainable fishing, and forget about short term selfish gain.

While I've spent the last month or so waiting for my X Factor to arrive(C'mon Stuart hurry them up!) I've trawled the net looking on ideas on how to rig it. Nearly all the anchor trolleys don't seem to start right at the front of the boat, they seem to be set back by a couple of feet - Is there a reason for this e.g. you can't reach inside the hull any further or is it just easier to use an existing fitting or am I missing the point and there's a safety reason or something??
To be honest mate, you really want to consider anchoring primarily at the stern. In a kayak you fish mainly (when not side-saddle) to the bow of the yak. Once the tide has set the anchor the yak will then be facing the anchor line / warp. Any fish taking your end tackle may take it over this causing no end of tangle trouble!. anchoring to the stern stops this and is a more reliable way to use a chute also.

Has anyone out there got any experience of using an outboard with a sit-in.
Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated

Yeah, DONT DO IT!!!!
There has been lots of talk about sails and alternative ways of powering a kayak! Why?
The answers to questions of alternative power at sea are:
1. BUY A YACHT / DINGHY
2. BUY A MOTORBOAT
We are kayakers not sailors, not gin palace cruisers, if you wanna do that, go and do it.
We are kayakers and need to practice and build stamina in our chosen craft. Becoming reliant on the wind or motor power is folly at best and dangerous at worst. If we need to get home in an emergency, thats what the emergency services are for and why we carry vhf equipment.
So, in short , stick to your paddle and enjoy the sport as it is supposed to be without added jetski engines/ sails/outboards!!!.
