  1. :) hi everyone ... i tryed some of those tactics we talked about aT My super duper pool near worcester, & it didnt quiet work out like i wanted it to, i used method & corn on hair rig & some corm mixed in with the method groundbait, only pulled out 4 fish unfortunately & most of the bites were hit & miss really.

so... i changed tactics just the hook & no hair rig, but this time i didnt use the corn & also dropped down on the hook size from 8's to 14's & astonishingly i had 20 fish today including tench, carp, bream, i pulled out of 2 or 3.im well chuffed.....i also got snapped 3 times by something that felt like the lockness monster, i hooked it on 10 pound line & the fish felt like...imagine hooking a big log on the bottom and dragging it to surface....lol nearly lost my rod as was messaging somone too haha......i thought it was a pleasure pool till somone told me theres 35 pound carp in there....lol wich explained hence the snaps..

All in all a fine day!! ;) super well chuffed!!! i managed to use 4 kilo of method mix hehehe....costs a bomb this fishing ;)

oh...i forgot to add that i used maggots as the hook bait.....& that i had to change my rig bcause of drop back bites......all i did t solve my drop back bites was put a 2 oz ledger above my method feeder blt rigged , but around 6 inch of free running for the ledger :) after that i hooked every single bite which i was impressed with.hehe

  2. yeh thats what have drennan super strength barbless.

i just made some hair rigs with size 10 & 12 hooks & atached 1 piece to 12 rig & 2 to the 10 rig.

is it best to let the hair and corn hang out f the method ball or bury it about 10mm? & how much space between the hook & the corn on rig? i got a 5 inch hook length also.

  3. thats very usefull info ;) iv never used hair rig on the method feeder...& iv only used it once...at holt pool in hlt fleet, but at that tme used a ready made bag which ni cant remmeber what it was called, but it did the job,i put 2 maggots on size 14 hook with 4 pound hook length and burryed the hook about 10mm into the ball, & had about 10 carp above 5 pound biggest at 13 pound.

I think maybe il try the hair rig this time with a popup boily on or just 1 piece of false sweet corn & size 10 or twelve hook :)

would ya recommend a size 10 or 12 for a single sweet corn on hair rig? or maybe 2 pieces of corn on hair rig with size 10 or 12?

  4. well thx for the opinions guys....i guess my friend was wrong, so i did warn him.....that on private pool such as pool hall, holt pools, furnace mill, for examples you need a licence, but i do believe you need a licence for even fishing a pond in your own garden. he says no need as he can get a post office owner who he knows to backdate a license if he's caught.....lololol then he just sends it off... i think he said something about only being asked for a license once in 4 years....so he has saved like 60 quid...lol

well anyways....im sticking with my license ,he can do what he likes. ordered mine from the online enviroment for 24 quid.:)

  5. Hi,

Iv been fishing over the past 2 weeks quiete a lot on various pools, first time for a year actually.. :P i used to do really well on the method feeder with size 14 hook double magot burried inside the ball.....

last night i tryed the method feeder again on a small pool that not many people know about im sure as a farmer owns it & its hard to find but i dont rate it anyway :) well any il get to the point. My first cast was method ball with 3 pieces of sweet corn on size 8 hook, which iv never tryed before allways used maggot, well anyway i had a run after 5 minutes of waiting which caught me by surprise and toulk me into the lilly pads :wallbash: so.....i recast & recast with only knocks and nibbles nothing like a proper method banging bite....& every tme i reeled n there would be no bait on my hook & only a few bits left inside the mthod feeder....

aM I using dodgy method ground bait or doing something wrong? perhaps hook to big, im thinking the corn is comming of my barbless hook to early or maybe hook showing to much...most of all do you think my method is breaking as it hits the water?

one good bite in 15 casts in 3 hours.....& everytime i reel in no bait on hook :(

I also wanted to know where i could possibly get some good method mix from maybe an online shop, what do you guys use? NEED A GOOD METHOD MIX USING WATER ONLY FOR MIXTURE does anyone buy online and where from. thx

Also what boilys do you guys use as mine havnt even attracted a fish yet im using spicy shrimp but not the fresh ones , just the ones you can keep.

is it best to get fresh ones from freezer or go with normal shop shelf boilys & which flavour is best? :)

  6. thx for the info guys :)

il be trying holt pool next week, didnt have much luck at wolvo <_< i did only try boilys though and pellets over the top & not even a knock...

i think its hard to find a good place that does night fishing, so il stick to the day fishing for now :) & maybe find a ool with night fising as i go along, but might try that cuttle mill :sun::yeah:

  7. i watched matt hayes do the method...he used a bolt rig above the method ball & he did not put his hook into the ball of bait..he used a 8 inch hook length above the method age held by a stopper bead....bolt rig style as it seemed...with 3 oz led.

but i myself mash the bait around the cage...then push bait about 5mm into ball then put bit more bait on top...and iv been totally sucessfull with no tangles & plenty takes.. :yeah:

  8. :) iv caught man many barbel on spaM & cheese even sweecorn.......ledger the spam & roll the meat down the river nice n slow because the barbelys love a moving bate :)

No better way than stick floating meat and casters on a nice back eddie :P had 17 barbel once. by dinner.

or even maggots & casters on waggler ,plenty hemps seed.ott

in heat they be under overhanging willow trees or trees....so tuck the bait under a nearby tree on the river or basically if you have fast water there look for a back eddy as thats were they will be hiding as its where the food lyes.....

my method !! by me in alvery ts quiet shallow say 2-3 feet fast flowing so wat i do is wade ut half wa across river with chest waders & lob a piece aof meat on a size 6 or 4 hook with ledger running free nothing to heavy....under a tree oppasite side of river and hold the rod verticle to stop line drag from river & wait for the take.....you can bate it up with hemp or a few pieces of meat offfered....

in slow moving rivers that are deep.....iv cAUGHT Many barbels too but onloy after sundown around 8pm i use a feeder full of hemp and casters for bating...and meat on hook....or even halibet pellets size 10mm or bigger.......

you ask about ideas but it ll dpends what the river is like on your end... :) shallow? deep? fast? slow? any back eddies? any features? trees over hanging deep holes....

basically the nly baits iv used most are meat, corn, halibets sometimes maggots caster. really...but thats the basics...

oh i allmost forgot to mention......go to bridgnorth theres a golf course 200 metrs from the town up stream ......fish frm the golf course mate...... had 12 barbel in 5 hour jus using meat and hemp....good luck!!!

  9. A friend of mine is taking me there as i dont have transport atm, & might not have for a long time i think. So im not sure what pool it wll be yet, he says its wolverhampton way or there abouts....Just wish had my own car i could go fishing when i want & where  Anyone near dudley west midlands go carp fishing lots? I NEED A RIDE :lol:

If i had the choice of where to go after doing some research i would book up on the best specamin pools, the ones you hear about where matt hayes & wilson go & catch big JUICY carps :).

  10. cheer's mark, allready been there though :) most seemed to not have night fish, and the odd few that id seemed to be far away.....or maybe im just being picky :(

basically i was just hoping somone might like night fishing here & knows a few good pools within my vicinity , or maybe not ..lol :)

well decided to try a place in wolverhampton seems to have up to 30LB carp & around 50 were caught on the specimen pool the weekend biggest was 29 pounder caught so allmost the largest hehe....

plus it has night fishing & 24 hours even the whole week if you have the cash :yeah: but i dont :schmoll:

anyway got my bivve ready, cooker, and gear & il let u all know if i catch anything big & maybe post a pic or 2 in...

  11. Hi im looking to go carp fishing very soon & hoping to catch some big carp, the only pool iv tryed is holt pool which has some desent sized carp up to i think 30ib but fancyed trying somwhere different as i had no luck in ctaching anything above 12 pound....

Are there any other pools within a 50 mile radious that are very good for big carp? im in the midlands about 10 miles from kidderminster. cheers

  12. Hello :) Iv recently just started carp fishing again & want to get back into it.

Iv only ever been day fishing mostly,& night fishing once at shatterford lakes in kidderminster.

I was wondering if anyone could pluck up a list of fishing pools, lakes, etc preferably pools & lakes that have big carp & you can do night fishing there :D

My I deal fishing hours would be say from afternoon between 3 and 6 pm till say 12 midday if possible....& want to catch some nice big juicy carp  waves his wand... :D .

Basically the only pools i know is pool hall wolverhampton & shatterford lakes that allow up to 24 hours fishing.

24 hours fishing seems to be ideal as you generally catch the feeding time at some part of the day :) but im no professional, got plenty to learn... so no better way than a 24 hour binge catching carp.

So could anyone give me any ideas as where to fish within say a 30 mile radious of kidderminster or worcester...for night fishing or 24 hours .

  13. Now thats what im talking about jevs

Will that allow me to sit in my chair inside

The only thing thats allways bugged me with my dome tent, when it rains you run to the tent 7 have to lie down and watch the rods...

but as im doing carp fishing on pools i might look a bit silly with my head poking out the tent

  14. I did say under £100 but i might be able to stretch a bit more if they are good.....

what im looking for exactly is something light, easy to putup,be able to sit on chair inside, sleep, comfy :P

im looking at my funds  hehe i didnt realise they were so expensive, i used to have a 3 man dome & cost me £70 , i guess those bivvies are state of the art :)

im going to try & stretch to £150.00 but i think those are still out of my league at 200+ hmmmm ;) they look so nice.
