I guess I'm likely to get as many different replies as there are responses?
Just found out that I'm going to be travelling around Poland for a few weeks shortly. Though most have no clue, the fishing over there can be pretty spectacular; at any given time I could have the opportunity that offers 4lb-plus grayling, large Wels, proper 'wild' carp well in excess of 40lbs, large pike, and all the other 'culprits' usually found in freshwater.
Circumstances dictate that this particular trip is very likely to be strictly opportunist fishing, rather than being able to plan / target a specific venue or species, so ... what rod / reel combination would you take?
I'm looking for ideas for a SINGLE rod / reel to take with me, with particular emphasis being on which rod? NO interest at all in a telescopic one, so the logic / neccesity would seem to point towards a multi-piece travel rod ... but which one?
Realistically, I'm more likely to be fishing for 'bites' than targeting lumps, so any ideas or recommendations, preferably based on experience? ... I might just be tempted to buy a travel rod, and the most obvious options seem to be a multi-part travel rod from either the John Wilson range, or one of the Youngs models, all of which seem to be available for not much more than fifty quid or so?
