D Rig

Hi Beltdrive, making a 'D' rig is quite easy.

Simply tie a knotless-knot leaving a long 'Hair'.

Instead of the 'hair' having a loop at the end of it, simply slip on a ring and thread the 'hair' back through the eye of the hook.

Using a lighter, gently melt the mono to form a 'blob' to secure the 'D' in position. See below.

Either tie on your hookbait, or use a bait band threaded through the ring, or even a bit of braid as a 'Hair'.

Have a play and an experiment. The eye on some hooks isn't big enough to pass the mono through the eye to form the 'D', so be weary of that.

Also, experiment with the size of the 'D'. I prefer to whip up the shank, about 10 turns, to form a long 'D', however, some just use 4 - 5 turns to form a short 'D' (Swimmer rig).

Hope that helps.

Gaffer,

Have I been sent that one for the Carp Clinic yet?

Tight lines,
