new to fishing, looking for info and someone to fish with

Hi, im new to the forums and fishing, I just got myself a new rod and reel yesterday. Im desperate to get out there and get fishing but not sure where to start really, where to go ect and was wondering if anyone here fancieda spot of fishing over the weekend. Im not expecting someone to tutor me lol or anything like that but just be good to have someone with a bit of experience to fish with. my dad used to fish all the time and I would go with him but he's too old now to get out and about.

 

If anyone fancies it or can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, cheers

It's actually the closed season for fishing just now, although thankfully many non-river venues are still fishable.
