Wanted Abu/Penn/Daiwa Multiplier Reel

Hi

 

Im looking for a cheap and cheerful reel that I can use to improve my casting with. I dont want to buy a "cheap" branded reel as I've been told I will be wasting my efforts struggling with a cheap one, but am currently unable to stretch to the reel I want

Skippy, To go cheap and cheerful I wouldnt reccomend any of the makes that you have asked for,as they are all class acts....and they aint cheap second hand either....well, it depends what you call cheap.

My first multi was a brand new Daiwa 7HT, and I didnt regret buying it,have now got my second one,along with various other multies, but as a spare and as good as (tho' will never last as long as ) I got a Shakespeare Neptune it has all the toys,and a level wind too,which you might find helpful, but as they say , you get what you pay for. It will do you fine to learn on for 6 months or so, then either bin it, or keep it for emergencies....hope this helps mate.

 

BTW, Brand new Neptune should cost about £30.

My advice wouldbe to avoid the neptune at all costs! Its *****...

 

Keep an eye out for a cheap second hand reel, the 5000 sized abus are toosmall, so wait until you find someone on here or on total fishing selling a 6000/7ht/speedmaster/525 and go for it.

Daniel, Which is fine if you have a spare £60-70 lying around.....I was casting over 125 yds with a neptune, but as i said, I wouldnt use them for more than 6 months....
