Great Ouse (Tidal)

I have recently moved and now live next to the Great Ouse between Downham Market and King's Lynn. The river here is very tidal between 1 and 3.5m rise and over 4m on spring tides.

I have often seen people fishing the river with what looks like long boat/short beachcasting gear with the rods in the air i.e beachcasting style.

My questions are these: -

1) What fish is likely to be caught, i'm thinking possibly eels and flatties but not a lot else

2) If I was to set up to fish here what type rig would be best and what bait to use.

3) Would I need an EA license.

At present I am just teaching Dale the fun of coarse fishing but thought I could get a few hours in my own back garden if it wasn't to much of a waste of time.

If anyone knows any info on this stretch of water I would be pleased to discuss.
