Pin Reels & dry fly

I was on a site recently reading about steelhead fishing with pin reels and dry fly's, it really caught my imagination and gave me a reason to part with some hard earned, but before I buy I guess I need to know a few things. I am a novice fly fisher and can just about get my line out in the river, but love the method and tackle, I suppose I'm a purist at heart. As with my other pastime archery I use traditional purist tackle and do it the hard way. I have never used a pin reel but I think this method would suit my traditionalist attitude.

Is any one using this type of tackle for drifting a dry fly down stream, any help & advice would be greatly apreceated.
