Bonfire Night

I'm impressed by our village school. The display they put oin was fantastic, even if I did spend the whole time hugging my 3-year old, who claimed they were too loud and smelt of bubblewrap. Go figure :D

Very quiet around here up until last night when there were quite a few local displays. But even those finished before nine o clock.

Compared to past years when the firework season started about the beginning of September and went on until New Year with hardly a break it has been a pleasant relief. In fact for once I actually enjoyed watching them from my conservatory and the dog who is normally a shivering wreck hardly seemed bothered either.

Everyone I've mentioned the lack of fireworks to has only then realised themselves that they haven't heard any. It's quite weird. You'll probably hear a few this weekend, and that'll be it.

I am no killjoy but I think that it is much better this way. Bonfire night is an actual event again and the fireworks can be enjoyed without getting on everybody's wick with months of explosions at all times of the day and night.

And I'm no scrooge, but it's a damn sight cheaper, even for a family of four! :D

Well, we heard a couple of private parties at the weekend, but that was it.

Is it okay to moan that "the yobs of today aren't like the ones we had in my day"? :D
