went fishing last thursday

i went fishing last Thursday at clacton on sea vista road

 

had nothing most of the night and then in a flash i had a 2 pound bass i didn't think they was not in this time of the year

 

can any one explaint this for me

 

all so can any on tell me if this sound right

 

15lbs main line with 77lbs shock leader with 8oz lead wait

I don't know the area you fish so I'm making a few assumptions

 

I as I think you're fishing over sand then your set up seems about right for casting out 8 oz leads, mainline fine as is your shockleader for the 8oz lead. The only question I would ask is , is it neccessary for the area you're fishing to use such a weight or can you get away with a lighter lead

 

As for the bass then yes they're still within touching distance of the beach and easily caught on bait even at this time of year but as it gets colder and the frosts start to bit then the bass move off the shore's edge as the shrimp and other food stuffs move into deeper water and the bass follow them , well at least thats how it is up here
